The 02 had less problems than the 03's. They tried to cheapen them up in 03

you can get a brand new cannondale for cheaper than that.... im not saying they arent worth that money (they are to me) but there are several that are going for $3500-$4500

If you are looking for a cannondale, good luck, they are awesome quads... just make sure you get the updates and you are good to go....

I am not too sure about this one...There are instances of Cannondales crapping out after 10 hrs and those were mostly 03's. I have had 2 different one's The 02' Cannibal still running without any problems or the need to do any update. i was stupid and got rid of it for the the Hydraulic clutch. The hydro clutch 03 LE had some issue's in the beginning that I have since worked out, but honestly I see that the mid 03's were the one's that needed most of the updates. Cannondale made many changes to the quads mid production so some made in the same year just different month would have different problems.

That being said get the updates done and rock on. I love my machine and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I wouldn't pay much over $4,500 for a speed. I think $3,500 is about right for a Cannibal.

We sold around 20 03's and not a single one has come back for a problem. I raced my 03 Blaze from the fall of 02 till this past June. Then I raced an 03 Cannibal from June till now. Neither one has given me the first problem!

I have had several 01's and 02's come in with problems like bad cranks.

it would deffinatley be better idea to buy from jeff. he and his shop probably know more about Cannondales than anyone on this site and their service seems to be first rate.

I wasn't stating that every 03 had a problem. I own an 03 currently and have been beating the hell out of it since I got it. I visit the same boards as you do and have had many discussions with other fellow Cannondale people and there seems to be one consensus. There is none...It didn't have rhyme or reason as to which one's had problems. Certain things help and maintenance is very important, but there are just as many 03's with bad cranks as 02's.
