I would be embarrased driving that. Maybe if it were a GSX Eclipse i would drive it. But its a poopy slow gs. My moms HOnda Accord is faster. Whats the point of a 6" widebody if your car will get beat by civics? I like imports and all but that is extreemly riced out. As ugly as the new YZF's too. I love DSMs "Eclipses,Talons,Lasers" But that car is way over done and its a GS. And for Eclipses getting beat by civics i wanna see a civic beat a GST or GSX. I dought it would happen we can thank Civics for earning names such as "Ricer" "BuzzBombs"

Settle down J, I am a supporter of the older eclipse GSX's/Talon Tsi, etc. I stated that the GS can be beat by civics. GS's are way slow. The GS-t's are a bit faster gut cant compare to the traction that the GSX's have. GSX's have the 4cyl records at many drag strips. If that car was a gsx that was pushing 500hp I would drive it. I would take off the ugly front end and the wing though.

1st Generation and 2nd Generation DSMs are the best. I HATE 3rd Generation Eclipses they turned into a girl car that daddy bought her. Yes GSXs are the fastest I just hate when people think all people who own imports are ricers. Listen to a Civic then a turbocharged car the turbocharged car is much quieter and doesnt have the annoying buzz because the Turbo cancels much of the noise.

My sister has a 97' Eclipse GST (I dunno the generations of Eclipses). Its decently quick, but my dads last truck (02 F350 V10 w/ 4.30s) was faster..

As for you guys that are uneducated of DSMs and say they are from Japan nice try. They in fact were a joint project Mitsubishi-Eagle-Chrysler. The Talon and the laser were both sold under domestic name plates. The eclipse being the only one with the Import badge.

This car being discussed is far too overdone in my opinion. That car has been injected with more plastic than Pamela Anderson and looks just as fake:p What's with the front end on that car? Reminds me of the alien in "Predator".

Now the funny thing is that all of these cars have less liters than your american muscle. BTW, they all weigh under 4000lbs, even the camaro, but the camaro has the less hp per liter.

There are obviously exceptions. But how easy is it to buy a Skyline and get it here to the US? It's goign to cost you over 100 grand. You can pick up a mint 1st Gen Camaro for under 50 grand.

I will make not of another exception. That new Lancer EVO. Thats a pretty nice car (like 310HP/275 ft-lbs) and it is under 40 grand and readily available in the US.

No one ever said anything about costs. But you can buy an R32 GTR Vspec 2 for around 20k or less, imported and registered in the us. R32 is probally my favorite out of the three because it is the more muscular seeming one. Same numbers, only difference is that the awd attessa system was tweeked for the later models.

An R33 usually goes for a little more, but not to much, around 20 or 30 for a regular GTR and 50+ for a vspec. Just depends on the mileage, year, and other things like that.

I don't care about horsepower per liter, I care about results. If Car A gets the job done with an 8-liter V-10 and Car B uses a 2-liter turbo--doesn't matter to me. I do prefer the exhaust note on a domestic V-8, however.

Putting about 5k into a skyline would result into some major power outage. These engines hold up to 1000bhp on the stock internals. Skyline's arn't whiny like you would think, neither are nsx's or supra's. They all have a deep throaty growl.

Yea the evo 8 is a nice car, I got to see one in Boston 2 months before they were being released to the public in a showroom. It was cool. But the figures are wrong, regular 8 makes 271bhp and 272 ftlbs of torque. The FQ300 (lucky uk *******s) get a bigger version with 301 bhp and 300 ftlbs of torque.

Yea the skylines are I6's, 2.6 twin turbo. RB26DETT, strong engines.

I think import tuners enjoy Imports because you can pick a turbo charged 4cyl for around 8 thousand or less stick 5 grand into it and still be MUCH cheaper than a mustang,camaro etc. Then you get to the next level of RX7's,Supras, and of course the Skyline that will be introduced in the US in 2005 I believe. With around 450hp stock not bad for a "ricer" is it? Then you get to the higest level of Imports. You have your Mclaren,Porshe's,Ferrahi,Lambos. I think domestic drivers are VERY close minded. I dont hate domestic cars I just prefer the power delivery of a Import over Muscle. Because and Import driver could afford a Domestic if they chose to do it and vice versa.

There are american skylines in sheeps clothing, named the Infiniti G35 coupe and sedan. You can check it out on the american infiniti site, or the nissan.co.jp site. Same thing, different name. Ran by a 3.5 V6 engine (same engine in the 350z series).

Front/mid engine, rear will drive = 350z. There are different skylines other than just the Rseries. Like the 4 door sedan models when the R34 was out. Or the 2dr single turbo RWD skyline that was out before the GT-R awd models came out. GT-S models they were called, cheaper because they ran on a 2.5 single instead of a 2.6 double. The american skyline is a N/A rwd platform.
