I know this is a dumb question but I want to know what everyone thinks.

Is widescreen better or fullscreen? I got in a little discussion about this yesterday. Personally, I hate widescreen.

on widescreen you actually see the same stuff vertically, and then more stuff on horizontally...

So most of you prefer to watch a movie at home, vs in the movie theater?

Wide screen kicks *** if you have a wide screen TV. But if its a regular tv, having black lines across it is lame unless its a really big tv. HD is the best though. :macho

Widescreen... without thinking twice.

To answer your question about watching a movie at home vs theater, I like watching movies at home with my home theater.... sounds ALOT better. :D

Full screens. Wide screens suck unless the DVD is designed for widescreen. Regular TV and stuff gets distorted.

On a full screen, a little bit of each edge on the side is cut off. So TECHNICALLY, you don't see the whole movie on a fullscreen version. I'll sacrifice having the black bars at the top of the screen in order to get the entire picture.

I love my 65in Mitsubishi HD wide screen. Normal tv looked a little odd at first (caused its streached a little on the horizontal) but now it just looks right that way. Besides how else can you link 2 xboxes and play 8 people on halo on the same tv. adn still have like a 15 in screen per player

65 inches, wow. how is the picture quality on a TV that big? i know the big sonys that we have ahd in the past at circuit city have had pretty poor quality at 65 inches. but yea, halo is sweet on the big screens. as for the stretching on the sides, you'll get used to it if you already haven't. i've been staring at widescreen TV's for about a year and a half now almost everyday, i can't even see a difference now. it is actually wierd getting home and looking a a 4:3 TV.

It has ASOME quality!! I have looked at the Sony’s and stuff like that and they kind of blur towards the corners and the Mitsubishi still has perfect looking picture the whole way. And yea I'm getting that way too it just doesn’t seem right to look at the old TV in the bed room. If you got the funds I HIGHLEY recommend Mitsubishi.

I install these systems all the time.

The video editors format the movie in 16:9(true wide screen)
There are video editing features that you wont see with a full screen, like take for instance the movie "catch me if you can" with leonardo decaprio.

The editors did some effects with the edge of the screen and if you use full screen instead of 4:3 or 16:9 YOU WONT SEE IT.

Therefore, you are not getting the FULL effect of the work that was performed on the movie.

so yea, my choice is wide screen.

just a reminder, If you do have wide screen, you have to have the dvd on 16:9 and the tv on 16:9, other wise it wont work correctly... Sounds dumb to say, but you would laugh if you knew all the people that thought they had 16:9 but had full screen. They said but it had black on top and bottom.

well true 16:9 doesnt have that, only if the direcotr and editor wants it....

;)

ahh yes i love home theatre

just another note.

the only TRUE flatscreen is the mitsubishi diamondtron nf crt

that is why the other makes are blurry near the ends ;)

all the others (even sony) are not true flat screen.

the picture is curved slightly, the mitsu is not, it is completely flat. Mitsu has a patent on it, I beleive once it is up it will become availible to everyone.....;)

somewhere on mitsu site it shows the difference I foget where though

this doesnt include plasma, they are all flat...
