426ex bore or sleeve?

Need advice on motor work.Right now I have my 400ex at 416.In need of rebuild and am going to go 426.Who has done this and are you boring or sleeving also.

I had mine done and you can just bore it to the 426 size.

U bore everything up to a 440. U resleve a 440. SO to upgrade to a 426 u need to bore.

The reason I ask this is because I have been told that if you do not sleeve a 426,cylinder can crack.

The only way to sleve a 426 is to buy a stock sleve and bore it out to a 426 but thats what ur gonna be doin anyway. U must bore the selve to accept the bigger piston.

The cheapest option is to just have the cylinder that you have bore out to accept the 426 piston. The problem is that the sleeve is getting very thin at that point and could break. The better way to go is having a new sleeve installed that starts at a 426 and can be bored all the way to 445 cc's. This is the way that I build my 426 engines, It is a little more money but well worth it in the future since when it comes time to rebuild the 426 if you are still using the stock sleeve you will have to spend the money on the sleeve then.

This is not true I have a sleeve that starts at the 426 and goes to 445 cc's. :)

colby is this 426 a good thing for xc or should i go with a 416? how much does each one cost please post or pm me i would appericate it thanks

The only difference in cost is the $70 for the sleeve and what ever you get charged for sleeve install. If you want me to build the motor and set it up with a XC 426 kit then I will PM you the price. Oh ya I like the 426 kits for XC.:)

Wow colby i never knew that. That is good info to have when i get my engine built. Can u shoot me a price for a mx engine with stage 2 hotcam or HRC and all the other goodies.
