It is very simple to change the main jet but if you have the money to pay someone, go for it.

I understand not wanting to F' things up, i've done enough of that!

If you some mechanical ability i.e. know how to operate a ratchet and socket, you can change the main jet.

The carb does not need to be removed.

Turn off the gas.
Use a 17mm socket to remove the drain plug on the bottom of the carb.
Use a 6mm socket to remove the actual jet.
Use the same 6mm socket to install the new jet. Start screwing it in with just the socket and your fingers. No ratchet.
Once it to hard to turn with your fingers attach the ratchet and just 'snug' it up a bit.
Replace the drain plug using the same manner.
Turn on the gas.
Wait a minute then fire it up.

If you aren't comfortable doing this, by all means pay a mechanic to do it.

Most likely. If you want easier starting change the pilot jet to a 40 or 42. It's a little more involved than the main but still very simple.

I highly suggest getting a repair manual and reading it.:) Well worth the money. It will pay for itself when you do your first mod'/repair.

Hey JOEX, what is the stock main jet? 38? I think I am needing to replace mine...I will probably start with a 40 and go to 42 if needed. Thanks man!

This also was a very big help to me. After having the carb. apart a few times, its very simple to work with. I am thinking about going with a 40 or 42 piolet jet.....Also winter is coming, and the 170 main jet is calling....:blah:

ok well i talked to two places today about having the carb rejetted. I went to the honda dealer were i bought it and the guy was like well we normally dont do that and it would take a few hours. The othr place said I dont have to even touch the carb unless im doing a header pipe.

i would not take it to either place because:
1. it doesn't take a few hours
2. it is highly recommended that you rejet even with a slip on. is it a must? no!! will you gain power without rejetting? very little if your lucky. jetting is easy. don't worry about messing something up as someone on here will be able to help you out. i was scared the first time i did it. after that, i didn't have a problem changing main, pilot, and needle jets. after you do it once, you will say to yourself that you can't even imagine taking it in to a shop for them to do it. good luck

C&D Racing sells individual jets.

yes, c&d sell the jets. you should be able to get the individual jets from the dealer. i get all of mine there since it is close and convenient. i personally wouldn't buy the whole dynojet kit if it was me. i would buy the individual keihin jets.

ok i got the pipe today and threw it on. It had six disks on it. Started no problem. I let it warm up and then rode it. It ran great and i could fell a huge difference in power. I read the directions and they said to try the pipe with the stock jetting before you make any adjustments and that it will possibly work with the stock jetting. Well ill find out when i take it for a long rife.
