Hello,
I bought my slightly used 2002 Honda Rancher from a dealer about a year ago. I have not had many problems with it up until now. For some reason I cannot DOWN shift gears when the engine is not running, when I push the button to shift down NOTHING happens I don’t even get a “click” sound. Only when it is running can I down shift. When I first bought the quad I was able to down shift without having to start the quad, now I have to and I want to fix this. The reason being is that it will only start when it is in Neutral, and if I turn off the quad when it is in 2nd gear I have no way to start it unless I manually move the foot shifter back to Neutral. I have been told that there is a sensor that could be misaligned inside the tranny. Would you guys agree with this? Would it be inside it? I already checked the fuse and it is good. Where is this sensor(s). I am not finding them in the $45 manual that I bought.
