I just bought a brand new 2003 300 EX last week. How long does it take to break in a 4-stroke & will it hurt the engine if I get on it here & there while breaking it in?

dont ride it too hard the first ten hours and make sure you change oil and everything after the break in.

I"m just breaking in my 300 after a rebuild, here's what I did, I ran it for a couple minutes, shut it down let it cool, did that again, then went & rode it easy going thru all the gears not uping the rpm's too much. Then I let it cool down after that for a little bit, then just rode it a little harder but didn't keep the throttle on steady. This could be the wrong way but it's how we broke our blaster in kinda & that was 2 yrs ago & it's still running like a champ. GOOD LUCK & enjoy the new 300ex they are fun no matter what everyoone says;)

Thanks for the info guys. How often should I be changing the oil, and when do I change the trans fluid?

Just keep the throttle varied, don't keep it in one spot for too long. DOn't go wide open yet. Take it easy on it; put put around get used to the quad and have fun.

Thanks for the info Hondapunk!!! According to him I think I've broken my 300 in quite well!!! I've only had it on the track for break in, but we did that for the on the throttle off the throttle.
