View Full Version : plastic paint on airbox..

I was outside in my garage looking at my broke down 300ex...soon to be a 330...and i thought it would look pretty trick if i bought that plastic paint stuff (krylon or somin) and painted my airbox...i dono what color...but then i noticed that on the side of the airbox there is a high temp sticker thing (i guess to make sure the exhaust doesnt melt the airbox) will the heat be too much for the paint?? i wasn thinking about painting it red..but i dono

Try using engine paint on it, that holds up well to high heat. Chevy engine red would look pretty good. You can get paint that is resistant to 1500 degrees.

Either that, or just paint it then put another piece of heat tape there.

spray some clear coat on the air box if you want the black plastic to shine... it works pretty good. make sure it's clean before you do it though.

I have a friend who coated his airbox and gas tank in rhino-liner. That is the stuff you coat your truck bed with. In my opinion it looks pretty good. He wants me to try to coat my a-arms in the stuff. I'll think about it.

yeh i really dont think they can put rhino on plastic but i dunno and dont put it on ur arms and stff its way too heavy we used to own a store.

that would look retarded....rhino liner on a arms...but anyway...i was wanting to paint my air box red...but i dono
