Sounds like its time for a new one to me.You will not be able to helicoil it and retapping can be done but where are you going to find over sized spark plugs?:confused2 Next time dont put the pythons on it to tighten. If you dont have a stock spark plug tool now would be a good time to order one,a socket and ratchet are not the answer.Sorry to here about your problem, check Service Honda.

Would a clean out tap work? I mean just run a tap that is the same size as the stock plug work?

If it is not repairable I think you will need a new head not the cylinder.

He said he cross threaded it.

It can usually be repaired, but let an experienced machinist do the work. There is a specialized type of heli-coil that is made for spark plugs. A new head is a lot more expensive than $50 and a trip to a machine shop. It is worth a try at least. If the machine shop says that they cannot repair it, I guess you better start looking for a head. :(

I am sure he cross threaded it not over tightend it. Which makes perfect since and is very F@cking easy to do. Ok now for the fix if you have only screwed up less than half the threads you are fine. Take the head off take a rethreading tap and run it through the threads from the bottom. If more than half the threads are screwed up you will have to heli coil it. sent my to FDO for them to do it so I am not sure on sizes. You can call them and ask what to use, but I would recomend taking it a machine shop.

All I meant by that was, a plug should have almost zero resistance when being screwed in, at the slightest bit of resistance.....STOP TURNING and back it out re try.

If I can't screw it in with my fingers, I have it wrong and need to re-try. Dont use the wrench to screw it in, only tighten it.

I think that spark plug has a 21mm reach, so I would say around a 15mm deep Helicoil would be good. To be sure you would have to measure how deep the hole is. I don't know that off the top of my head and don't have any heads laying around here to measure for you. The plug has 12mm threads, that is for sure. Just take the head off and a machine shop can take care of the rest. If you feel comfortable doing it yourself, just get the measurement of how deep it is and find the closest helicoil you can. Just be very careful drilling and tapping for the helicoil so it is straight. :)
