Kind of personal, but do you guys/gals take a big loss most of the time when you sell your stuff? IE....atv's, bikes, cars.....What percentage of a loss is normal? I start to feel like crap when I think about how much I have invested into my toys and then how much I actaully get back.....:(

you will hardly never get out what you put in..especially if you count the TIME you invested. if you are patient sometimes you can get real close tho.

I know how you feel. I just lsot around $500 on a guitar and amp. I seem to loose close to half when I sell my toys. Even my quad is now only worth about $3000 now and I paid around $5000 new. And that's after putting $600-$700 in mods. :(

It's just the price of having fun I guess.

The only items I've done well on are firearms. I usually at least get back out what I spent on them, maybe make a little. I figure with the original purchase price of my LT250R, and the money I've put in to it, I have about $10,000 in it. I could probably sell it for $4,000! Now that makes me sick when I think about it! Best to just get what you can for something, and try not to think about the loss. :(

It really depends on the type of mods you have, and your original purchase price.

You can find an old 250r with a bum motor and no plastics and probably pick it up for $500. Clean her up real nice, $1000 into a new engine and $350 in plastics, and sell her for $2500 and make a little money.

However, if you start with a decent quad for $4000, you'll be lucky to see 25% of the money you put into upgrades. $2000 in a-arms, axle, and suspension, and you can now sell your quad for $4500...

My dad says anything thats fun to have depreciates fast....Its held true too me so far.

Thats not to say you cant make money off some stuff, you just have to look and be in the right place at the right time usually.

I did make money on a 99 400ex i bought for 4500. Put all stock stuff back on it that came with it then sold it for 3500. And sold a rpm axle, laeger a-arms, oversized gas tank, s/s brake lines, front beadlocks, rpm locknut and rear shocks off of it. And got to keep some pep front shocks, laeger swingarm, laeger stem, rpm bearing carrier and a extra motor from that quad.
