Unless his car is extremely slow, or he is incredibly bad driver he will win. Even in the 1/8th mile.

I raced a Banshee with my old IROC and even beat him off the line.

Raced the same guy with a different Banshee in my Taurus SHO with even better results for me...lol.

it`ll be pretty close. v8 or v6 camaro? the car may beat you. dirt or pavement. if dirt , you`ll probably win. good luck!

if you can, gear higher so u dont he wont go zoomin past you while your bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th

might not help much but you wont lose so bad, since its such a long ways

Might be close depending on how his car is running....if it's "fast" he'll probably take ya

i would go with a 16/33 tooth combo. Thats what i got on my 300ex and we think it will almost hit 80 but thats a different story. but anyways i would with that combo and you could propley hit 90 or something in that area. but thats JMO

thats geared way to high, the 15 and maybe a 36 and ull be set. Either way ur gunna lose, or ur gunna run outa room before u reach the speed of that gearing

For reference. My old set up was a 426 ex with sparks exhaust and a hot cam. With 18" tires and stock gearing it would top out about 50ft before the end of an 8th with the stock limiter. I ran a 9.6@66 as my best pass.

My EX 9.7@66mph, mods in sig except stock rev limiter. Ran with 18" american racers, and i wasn't close to my rev limit.

My 1985 Z28 with the bone stock 305TPI, 9.72@72mph (1/4 mile 15.262@89.3mph)

I don't think the 300EX has the horsepower to push it up to 90mph. It's not a question of gearing or rev limit, it's a question of power vs wind resistance.

Exactly... there is no 300ex with the mods that u have in ur sig that will do 90 mph. You have no major motor mods at all....

If you don't win it will be because of you not the bike. and 15/38 with 20inch tires will work fine just get a good takeoff and you'll win by a bit.

I think it depends.

Third gen camaro's came with alot of different motors.Ranging from an iron duke 4 cylinder to a 350 TPI to a turbo V6.(the pontiac TTA)

You said this camaro was an 87.It could have came with a 2.8.a carbed 305.(LG4)305 tpi,(Lb9)or a 350TPI(l98).Unless it is a LB9 with a 5 speed or a L98 I don't think you have much to worry about.

Also just a little extra info. The 350 wasn't put into a thirdgen camaro until 86.It was an option. Also you couldn't get a 5 speed in front a 350 from the factory. So if anyone says otherwise ignore them.

i was riding on a parking lot yesterday and I thought about this... there are 660 feet in the 1/8 mile. The part of the lot I was riding on I could go about 550 feet before I had to hurry up and stop. I have a completely stock 400ex and I was only in 5th gear for a second before I had to slow down. In my opinion, I do not think that you will run out of rpms in that race, but in other manners if I were you I would practice starting in second to keep the front end on the ground.

yeah but he has a modded 416ex and his gears will rev out quicker and thats why he might be hitting the rev limiter before hes even done

sorry buddy 16 dont fit.... i think 15 is the max for the 300ex..... but 90 mph on a basically stock motor it wouldnt have enough power to push that much even if u did have a 15 33 sproket combo. I also think 90mph on a 300ex is a fanasty.

no we didn't race yet, he pussied out. A few days ago he got ticket for burning out. If one of the 3 cops within a mile of where we're racing, his insurance will go way up, so I guess we wont be racing for awhile.-darren

you should find a private road, the road where my dads work is perfect for drag racing, one time a cop saw my fathers friend riding on the road and he stopped him, he got a ticket and got his bike impounded too. then when he went to court he showed it was a private road, it was thrown out and he was reimburst the fee for the impound. I still would have ran because he could have got away, I think he just wanted to make an *** of the cop (dont we all)

exactly what I was saying

and a stock motor even with 14/38 gearing is still hard to push in 5th, its a very low and "blah" gear

I got a friend with a drag Banshee and he's got a 19 tooth countershaft. Looks wild on there too.
