Will it work for sure? Also has anyone had any problems since install? Does anything need to be modded for it to work? What gaskets will i need when putting in a new cam chain?

I put one in about a month ago. No problems yet. I don't think it will be a problem.

I put one in when I just replaced the cam. Seems to work fine.

So is the cam chain off the crf a better cam chain? If so why ?

IT'S beefier and supposedly it's the same chain that most big name motor builder sell for 130 bucks as their heavy duty chain for the ex

I've decieded your an out and out post whore. everytime I go to click and answer a post, you already have 3 replies in it. Right before we left for the July H/M ride we had almost the same post count. Now you have 600 more in 2 months. Jerk!

How do I know if I need a new cam chain? I just did a 440 with 11 to 1 je and a hrc cam with a 39 fcr. My bike was all stock before , besides a pipe, rev box and a filter. My bike has probably 200 hours on it. How can I tell if a cam chain is needed?

The CRF chain is pretty much identical with the exception of the width. The width of the chain is determined by the number of "plates" that make up each link. The CRF chain has one more plate. If you compare the two, you'll see what I mean. There aren't any clearance issues, and the extra plate in each link will increase the chain's resistance to stretching and breakage.

Whats the best way to tell if my cam chain is worn?

Check your cam timing, it will be off if the chain has stretched, the cam gear marks won't line up properly with the head. This is assuming you don't have an advance key on the flywheel.

It will break. :) It is just a good insurance policy to have around.
By the way, I have had my CRF chain in for a while now with lots of riding, and I just popped it open to take a peek at some things and everything looks good. I feel confident telling people to go ahead and put it in. :)
