i just paid 1700 to get a 2000 ford f150 painted black, its original color. it depends on how nice of a job you want, dents taken out, or fixed, and if you want the fire walls painted to the granite color.

Get a compressor and do it yourself.. :D

I think Maaco does 3 hours of bodywork and a full paint job for 400$.

last winter i got my chevy c-10 painted like the size of a 1500. i got it done at macco they run a special during the winter 1/ price on the paint. it was 600 paint job got it for 300+50 for the extra paint a truck takes+7 environmental disposal charge. BUt all your doorjams and stuff wont get painted like under the hood ect. Expect to pay an extra 50-100 for color change + an exrat 50-100 per doorjam or hood you want painted. Thats at least what it was at my local dealership this past winter.

painting a vehicle can be a lot of work if you want a good job done. when i did my truck I wanted to go all out, took the doors apart, the hood apart, the bed came off the engine came out. but it looks like it came that color! Well, it really did, I had a 2 town metallic dark green and a gray, I did the entire thing the dark green. Looks pretty trick.

But I did that all myself, took 2 months :( A good paint job will cost ya.

That's a definate. Especially if your vehicle has some spots where it is rusting out, you can usually find or fabricate an alternative peice of sheet metal to repair it that might prevent it from rusting again. This is commonly done on the bottom of doors, because those rust quickly, especially if you live in a snow area and salt gets to them. After I got my paint job finished I didn't want to do it again ( one that truck anyway ) so I decided whenever it starts to snow, wash and was my truck, even the inside of the door jams, then take a towel and dip it in some thick motor oil and put a small coat over the spots that used to rust. Might be a good idea, might be a bad idea.

Next time I paint a truck I am going to look into getting my frame rhino lined or something, that would be interesting to see wouldnt it lol.

Whatever you do, dont take it to Maaco... I've seen some of the WORST paint jobs come out of those places. Your better off buying your own paintgun and supplys before you go there. I'm not kidding either.

As everyone has stated, your gonna pay a good bit for a good paint job... but in the long run, its worth it.

Ok, thanks guys. Also, What do you think about a 3" Lift and 31" tires put on it, Trick setup...or not? I also was wondering what do u think a v6 motor, tranny and diveshaft would cost me? I would prolly want a used motor, out of a older ranger, cause this 4 cyl...just aint cuttin it! Heres a pic of an 88 ranger with the lift/tire setup i like...

I like that lift just nice not to huge, but really if you are going for the v-6 why not just make your way up to the v8? i don't think its to much more :)

I got my car painted at maaco, paid extra for the prep, good primer, etc. Well, now you can see on the top where the paint is peeling off, that they just slapped the paint on and didn't do any prep...they didn't even use any primer... :( Plus they lost the trim rings that go around the side marker lights...

I'd take it to a place that does restorations and expect to pay at least a grand. Any moron can spray paint, the skill and work is all in the prep...
