i hope the title got your attenion
but anyway, i go out and start up my 400 and rev it a couple of times and dark smoke comes out the back, a pretty good bit of it to,i didnt keep doin it to see if it would stop cuz i dont wanna start it again till i know whats goin on,

prob cuz it hasent been running. mine does that sometimes when it hasent ran for awhile

redrider2004 start it back up and run it for a while if its been sitting for that long it sounds like it just loaded up. Just start it and run it at about 1/4 throttle for about 30 seconds .make sure you dont hear anything abnormal such as loud ticking or knocking and it should clear out after it warms up.

All black smoke means is that you are killing ozone basicly..

it means your running beyond rich for the moment cause you left your gas on or you havent rode it in some odd 3 weeks


worry about white/blue thats oil..
if black smoke persists you should check your Carb somthngs gonna be stuck open or somthing.

Get your butt back out there, fire the quad up, let it warm up then take it for a spin @ WFO for a few minutes... this will clear everything out.

i dont think a 400 will burn white smoke, UNLESS there is water in your cyl somehow, white is radiator fluid, black is richness, and blue is oil

black smoke means your rich, if it is warm and still does it then you need to adjust the jets in your carb
