02-04-2002, 04:21 PM
I was wondering if anyone has any instructions on how to put 400ex a-arms on a 300ex. I was also wondering if anyone has this done and what they think of it. Any info and oictures of this would be greatly appreciated. I have also heard that there are bolt on kits for this,is this true.

before i bought my burgards(when they come) i went to my honda dealer to see if it was possible and he was almost possitive that there was no way it would fit

Your dealer was wrong. You put the a arms on like you put any a arms on. Grease em up and bolt them on. If you are talking about shocks you need to relocate the shock mount to a higher position so the 400ex shocks fit.

02-04-2002, 05:25 PM
I know that the a-arms will bolt up. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of this done. Dose anyone make a kit to bolt the shocks on without cutting and welding the shock mount. If I do this will the 400ex tire-rod ends fit,

In regards to raising the shock position on a 300 for 400 shocks!
I was wondering if anyone tried like Dura Blue lowering shock mounts for this trick? Since after all they raise the shock mount to lower the bike for flattrack racing!
Was just a thought! Does anyone agree with my idea?

wow that is a good idea. mesa should try it. they only cost what 50 bucks.

I dont know about the durablue kit, but you dont have to cut your frame to raise the shock bracket. Just weld on new ones and grine the old ones off, its not hard, just make sure you get a good welding job done, its not for amatures!

Has anyone tried this with the durablue lowering kit?

There is no bolt on kit. I think that kid was telling BS. I would rather have a new shock mount welded on anyway because it's stronger than any bolt on kit.

As for the lowering kit, quadfamily has done this. He said it works but your shoocks are still compressed more than normal. He said that the best setup without moving the shock mount would be the lowering kit and 250r shocks.

I didn't say you were lieing I said the kid that supposedly made it was. His name is countypark. I know what you are talking about. I don't think it's possible to bolt mounts on and have them be strong while retaining the stock shock mounts.

what about getting long travel a-arms, since it is lower, wouldn't it work?

if you got stock lenght, long travel 400ex a-arms, couldn't something be done w/o moving the shock mount?

The mount kit is for real. I am not feeding you guys any BS, and I am not a kid.

Check out this post:

This set up is more solid then the stock shock mount.

In a couple weeks I will have my quad back together and will post pictures of the set-up.

I am also going to start selling the kit. I am still working on the price and the steering stops. The steering stops are necessary, without them you can turn the wheels to far.

I own a small plastics company and my schedule has been filled since October and I haven't had much time to work on the mount kit.

Sorry for the delays to all you guys looking to do the conversion.

I want to make sure that the kit is easy to install and performs well before I start selling them.

The bracket shows no signs of weakness since being installed. I have raced several cross country races since it has been put on and I've jumped it big enough to bottom out the stock 400 shocks.

I will be putting on a set of Elka compression adjustable triple rates with piggy backs before I race again. County Park Racing also will be selling Elka's.

My email is countyparkracing@hotmail.com

i mean that i think houser makes a long travel a-arm for the 400. if they make it in stock length it would be perfect. since it is long thavel for the 300 with 400 a-arms, wouldn't it work?

I think that he just used 1/8 inch stock. He said what guage it was but I don't rightly remember. It looks pretty close to 1/8, though.

You saved my life man, Ive been wanting to put the 400 conversion on mine but been scared about cutting my frame. Also, did you use your stock 300ex axle with your 350x swingarm and stuff or did you just have to put the hole 350x rear end in? Think you could post a picture of it ? I wouldnt mind doing this.

countypark
02-17-2002, 07:28 PM
I am still putting the rear together. I had to find a rear shock mount that should be in this week. I will be using all the stock 300 axle stuff though.

When its done I will post pics.

I am going to finish the kit this weekend then I will start taking orders. Elka Suspension has reccommended that I try selling the kit as a package deal with their shocks. email if interested countyparkracing@hotmail.com

If I use the 400ex a-arms and tie rods on my 300ex, can I still use my works dual rate shocks. I don't want to get rid of them just to use the 400 a-arms, I would just get wheel spacers instead

Live2Ride300
02-26-2002, 05:07 PM
125 for the two brackets right?

countypark
02-27-2002, 10:44 AM
If you use the stock length works shocks your front end will sit pretty low. You can always send your works shocks back and have them set up for the new length without the bracket.

$125 is for the complete bracket kit which includes the upper shock mount the steering stops and all mounting hardware.

bigbadbrad
04-09-2002, 05:34 PM

Red Rooster
04-09-2002, 06:42 PM

Are 250r and 400ex a-arms the same size? how much longer are 400ex arms over stock 250x?thanks

R-Crazy
04-09-2002, 10:33 PM
wouldn't the front now be longer than the back. I look at my quad now and it looks like it may be.

'86-'87 250r a-arms have removable upper ball joints, {I believe. other than that they are pretty much the same. The 250r/400ex arms are +2 inches on eatch side.
