im gettin into mx and to me it seems like there are so many things to choose from when getting my quad ready, i already lhave the brakes, suspension, handle bars, tires and rims picked out, but after that i have no clue what company i should pick to do my motor mods, so plz help me decide what company to use for motor mods, and is it neccasary to go all the way to a 440 to race? o and ya this is for my 400ex

i'd build a 416 and heres my reasons why..

1. it'll rev faster...
2. it runs cooler (thicker sleeve)
3. if u do ever blow it up u still have a 426, and a 440 left to go 2...
4. its cheaper to build...

for a motor builder i rec TC RACING... i have his mx grind in my lil 406 and i love it!!!! TC has one of hte best names in the business for racing... but the set back is the super long wait...

sparks is also a good builder... but once again he has the same wait...

Contact my friend Scott at www.soreracing.com he specializes in MX motors and has a very quick turn around.

Tommy put it pretty well. I would look into a Sparks engine.

sparks hands down! as for chassis & componets i would reccomend laegers or arens brothers parts. Shocks i reccomend peps and kellner motorsports for frame gusseting. They are good welders gusset makers with good people to work with. becky and tony are A+++ to deal with............

i have a TC motor and it is a strong runner, TC didnt build it though, a smaller shop did using all TC parts. some of these builders have got such a big name i think they are statring to slip on they quality of work they perform unless you are a big name racer. i heard some bad stuff about TC. just my 2cents:confused:

oh yeah, it dont how good of a motor you got, you have got to have the suspension to back it up.
