View Full Version : 416ex Ross or JE and what exhaust?

I want to get a 416 kit but can not decide on which to get the je or ross piston? I know the ross is lighter but i remember some guy talking about ring problems he had with it? Also i was going to use a hot cams stage 2 and xr400 head gasket with a ex base gasket. Does this sound like a good setup? Also with this amount of engine work do i need a full exhaust or just a slip-one? Any suggestions would be apprieciated,thanks

Both of those kits are good I tend to sell a few more of the JE kits than the ross. I use the steel flex cometic gasket kit in my bike along with the hotcam stg2 and I am happy with the performance.
I also have a sparks x6 full system and a 39mm fcr. I would suggest an exhaust but the carb is not a have to have.

je piston...xr head and oem base...full pipe...stage 2 is good...get a 10.8:1 piston and your xr head gasket will take it up to 11:1 because its thinner...or just buy the 11:1 and run the oem head gasket

You would be best to go with any engine builder pipe, sparks, lrd, tc, etc..

I wouldnt go with hot cam, go for a TC cam.

i would say the sparks x-6 is the best pipe...and y a TC cam...i love my stage 2 hotcam...it owns mo

i think the lrd system looks nice, i saw a pic on the forums but now cant find it. it had the short black silencer can anyone give me the link to that pic?

sparks x6 is the best pipe for a 400ex....and i would just get a stage 2 hot cam

Ross piston(no ring problems here). Sparks X-6 exhaust.

gt thunder fuly system i have one on my 416 it sounds better thna a sparks and puts out the same if not more hp

JE piston..go with a TC cam..and if your gonna race alot get a TC pipe..but sparks and lrd are both good pipes also
