View Full Version : Why is my 400ex smoking???

Yesterday i went riding with a friend and i have a stock 2002 400ex and he wanted to race me and we did and i beat him. But im wondering why when i got done racing him (5th gear maxed out) that my quad would smoke whenever i would rev it up. It would only smoke when it would start idling down? Did i do harm to it when i was racing? any help would be appreciated.

it matters what color the moke is but if it's white then it's burning oil

time for a new piston rings and valve seals. Conact marcums atv and they can do ya one for under 200 dollars

already? this thing is only a 2002. How long does it take for this kinda stuff to go bad?

Change your oil more often after you rebuild it. Better maintence on your bike will prevent problems like this.

i go throught topends once a year but i race. Really maters how hard you ride it. But nows a good time to switch to a 416 with 11:1 compresion

i think it's around 180-190 for a 416 kit with boring

is the 416 kit the best? b.c i know where i can get a 440 big bore kit for about 250 or so

me too, i am actually running a 406. when i called up C&D to order my cam and piston, he said that i would not notice a differece if my bike was the exact same as another with one running a 406 and the other a 416.
