I was looking through the interviews with micky dunlop on the tech articles section. He mentions using silicone on the base gasket and a xr 400 head gasket too raise the compression ratio with a stock piston anyone ever done this? I am going too put a new cam in and it aint all that much deeper too remove the base gasket at that time. I am also gonna port the head myself just a "play " porting job just cleaning up some the flaws from casting and such nuthin too wild. Any one that has done this and gott results good or bad please let me know.
Guess i didnt mention i have a 03 400 ex should have stated that erlier sorry.

be careful about porting/polishing on the intake. It is rough for a reason. If you smooth it out too much, the air/fuel will not atomize (sp?) and thats not a good thing
