Ight ppl, I have a 250x 350X conversion with many mods (look in bio) to the engine (thats y im in the powertrain forum) and Im waiting on parts (cam and valve springs) and while I've had my engine tore apart my friend got the new yfz and so far as far as ppl in the group who I ride with have all lost to me in a drag race, mines the fastest, so now Im afraid of losing my title but ppl on bluetraxx.com said it will be a good race so I wanna know what u guys/gals think; O yea he has a pipe too

Chances are he will beat you. The 350Xs were good motors, but not THAT great. The YFZ440 is a good all around motor, but lacks low end response. You may beat him for the first few yards, but would put money on it that he wins the race.

its just common sense. The yfz motor has a decade of innovations and newer technology to it. Then, add 100cc's. I will tell you this: i dont think u stand a chance.

But, your friend might not be able to ride, so you may beat him if you's a good rider

hey tom can you tell me all what is needed to do a 350x conversion... i mean like i want to put a 250x in my 300ex...

I think youll lose how you are set up now. If you want to keep up I would get rid of the Cobra pipe for some thing better, get rid of the Super Swamper rears for a holeshot or razr, get rid of the Wiseco Top end 10.25:1 for a JE or ROSS higher compression like 10.8:1 or 11:1 with an aggressive cam and you may stand a chance but i doubt you are getting 80mph now.

Don't underestimate the yfz. Even with the stock pipe still on, they are fast. I have not beat one yet. The stock piped ones usually beat me by about 1 to 2 bike lengths, and I can out run stock raptors. I raced a yfz with a curtis sparks pipe and the exhaust cam mod and he smoked me good, by about 7 to 8 bike lengths.

yea i can beat raptors on my 416 but a yfz's just pull away i beat a 350x 250 x convrision on my 416

The new yfz is a quick bike but not as fast as I was expecting. We went to a sand drag this weekend and my wifes 416 beat a pipe yfz quite a few time in the drags.

Well I Have a 350x/300ex conversion also and I went out riding yesterday . My bike is basically all stock except for the K&N and and a modified FMF 400ex headpipe mated to a stock silencer. I could keep up to my friends 400ex that has a pipe, jetted, and and K&N and rev box for the most part but he starts to pull away by the end like in 100yds. So if I get a pipe on my machine do you think I may have a chance in beating him. also there was a buddy of mine who has a Vforce which i drove for the first time and that thing moves. he raced a predator and a raptor . The raptor won barely. The predator came in second not by much. now all of these machines had pipes and were rejetted .

My friend had a 350X with basicly the same mods as you, and maybe a few more. He was faster than my 400EX at the time but I dont think it would be much of a contest if you tried to race a YZF..... YZF hands down.

well I have had and built many 350x motors and 250x conversions great motor for torque but it will not stand a chance against a yfz, just mt opionion but the 350x motors are bullet proof I have 1988 250x with a350x conversion back in my garage i built about 10 years ago (long before any one dreamed of the 400ex went thru 3 owners and the motor is still strong and smooth as day one try that on a yfz. cyrrently getting the full resto now 2001 300ex frame and plastic 400ex arms shocks conversion, and 350x rear swingarm shock etc
that bike has been around so long now it seems like family.

Do you know where I should go for Hipo parts for mine and what to get for it

As for the 350x swingarm I suggest using a raptor shock with it just have to refab the lower shock mount thats is what i did

prepare to get smoked! but you could get lucky, he may miss 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, then you would have a chance. If you race him for only about 30 feet you may win too.

Actually........ I hate to say this :o But in the first ten feet I can probobly outrun mine on me feet but once she gets movin shes a tank!!!!! After the race IF he beats me Im gonna buy a 36 tooth rear sprocket to make it a better race!!!!!
