no...unless u run it for prolonged periods of time and it gets hot

   no more giving info for you

anyways there is always a good chance that your goin to need to run race gas 11:1 is the happy medium anything below you don't have to but anything above it you will have to and 11:1 is right in between you may have to you may not the only way you will know is if it pings than you have to if it dosen't than you won't have to i'm running 11:1 compression in my bike and i don't have to run race gas but since i'm running the sparks timing key it creates alot of heat therefore thats why i have to run race gas

wtf...all he said was piston...didnt say he had nething else...so no more giving info for u :blah: ...i didnt feel i needed to go on about it as u did

what's his question have to do with anything he asked a simple question and you pretty much gave him bogus info "not unless you run it for a prolonged amount of time" uh ok, so do you ride your quad in 10 minute intervals beside the fact heat will definantly not be a factor with only 11:1 compression i don't know anybody that has a heat problem with 87 mm piston and 11:1 compression :huh

lmao...i do...if u run it hard for 2 hours or the time of an endurance race...it will have problems..trust me...and how is that answer bogus...its the truth

There are other things that also determine if you need to run race gas. Air temp, humidity, and as uglymother said timing advance, one other very important thing is altitude if you have an 11:1 piston at sea level then you are more likely to need race gas than a guy at 4000 feet

The temperature differences between pump gas and race gas are so minute. Plus, it doen't make the engine run cooler, it just cools the surface of the piston slightly (fractions of a degree) more.

y not run race gas in a high compression motor. Not doing it is like driving a car w/out insurance. Race gas isnt a must, but its pretty important

But at 5 bucks a gallon its a waste of money, especially if you dont need it.If you want to run it than run it,it will not hurt.Do you even understand why you need race gas?Race gas doesn't make you a racer.

why not just add a little octane booster to your pump gas?

from what i read, octane booster has additives that are bad for an atv. also, it is possible that octane booster makes the bike run hotter.

when i get my 11:1 if thats what i decide to do, im gunna get 5 gals of race gas, and add a gallon to every 5 gallons of 93 octane. That should bring it up to about 95 or 96 octane. U shouldnt need more than that

bill is right most people don't even understand the reason why they need to or don't need to run race gas, the main reason a person would need to run race gas is for predetonation perposes if your motor is not pinging then there really is no need to run race gas it's almost pointless also octane booster is not a substitution for race gas octane booster will actually make your motor run to hot and also honda racer your motor will not run any hotter if you run it hard for 2 hrs or 30 mins sorry but with the info you have given so far i have little trust in you

As staated before in this post 11:1 is the so called limit for "lower" compression limits,a 10:5:1 will run just fine on 93 pump gas.As far as a drop In cam I stand behind TC's national XC cam 110%.You can run a hot cam if thats what you want or your budget limits you to but I have nothing but GREAT experiance from TC.

If you're looking for a cheap alternative to race fuel, I would run a 50/50 mix of super and 100LL (low lead) avgas. The 100LL is essentially the same as race gas, but more strictly regulated for purity and consistancy. A couple of good things about 100LL; it's about 1/2 the price of race gas (I pay $2.30/gallon--they can't get away with charging $6/gallon to guys that are filling up aircraft at 100's of gallons at a time), and you can buy it at just about any municipal airport. For those of you that say "It will burn your bike up", or "It runs hot"; I've done quite a bit of research, and have found nothing to support any of those claims. I ran it straight in my bike, and it ran better than it ever has. Also, 100LL is actually equivalent to 110 octane race gas because avgas is rated based only on the motor octane number (auto fuel is R/M2).

i dunno where u guys live but where i live...if u run it without race gas for a long time it will get hot and begin to ping...as most of u have already said...and ugly...wtf man...u can not trust me all u want c if i care...i tell people whats true for where i live...not where they live...elevation and climate does make a huge difference...humitity etc

How much difference is there in horsepower between 10:1 and 11:1??
