My racing season is over now. I dont really like my ex tooo slow. I want to get a new quad for next years racing and i want something that will have scaaary fast race winning power and speed. I want it to be reliable and good handeling too. I was thinking on getting a 250r and moddin the shyyyt out of it this winter and spring, or maybe get a yfz but are they only gunna make a pipe and filter for it. Cus if i got one i would want a big bore , port and polish, cams, bigger carb etc for it... I might even want a crf450r but will they make like big bores and stuff for it too, and also can there be a bigger carb for it cus it has a huuuge carb already.. soo wat should i do i mite go with the r i dunno please help thanks

O and i race woods cross country

I know you can go to 500cc's on the CRF motor. But it gets hot fast. Atleast in the bike frame. Also takes quite a bit of work. Welding in a sleeve from a KTM, etc.

A YFZ with a pipe on it is pretty fast. Then you can also add a more aggressive cam to it, and add higher compression piston... that'd be plenty fast for a few races.

I'm pretty sure you can bore and replate up to a 480 in the CRF bike engine, and I would imagine you could stroke that even further.

Why are all the pro's going to 4-strokes. Because they are easier to work on and make the same amount of power. Seems to me that you might want to start training to make you faster and quit worring about what your riding.

I would look into a yfz450 because they already have mods for them and they don't relly got any out for the 450R yet. Or i would look into a 250R like you said.

They aren't easier to work on. I would prefer wrenching on a 2 stroke over a thumper any day. I mean the 4 strokes aren't HARD to work on if you have some mechanical skill and common sense, but its still more work. And in order to make the same horsepower, you usually need close to double the displacement which equals more weight. Good point though on the training. Too many people take the easy way out and build a super fast quad when they can really spend far less money and hone their riding skills and do just as well.

You can buy my 250R that I raced at the nationals. I have tons of aftermarket and extra parts. I am selling it for real cheap so I can buy a new quad for the production class. Hit me up if you want more info.
