CDI and timing key

I have a 400ex with the usual stuff, White Bros E series, K&N filter and Outerwheres, and jeted with no lid. But, I want more. My question is witch is better, a CDI or a timing key? I understand what both do , but is one better than the other? Can I put both on my bike to make it that much better? Or is that a bad idea?

im set up like you i would get the timing key but the cdi wont do all that much with you set up

I think most will agree that you will not see many gains with a CDI. The stock CDI is about as good as it gets, but if you feel you want to rev out further I would mod the CDI instead of getting one like a White Bros or something. My opinion: get a timing key.
