I would go with the hotcam stage 2
just my opinion.

But I have a web cam with is one of the best cam you can get but you have to change the spring and rocker

stg 2 is goin to be you best bang for the buck but yet you can't beat the reliability of a honda part

Isn't the stage 2 hotcam close to the hrc cam , in duration ?

You get a decompression mechanism and a lighter wallet with the HRC cam.:D

has any installed one of sparks "drop in cams"?

Sparks wants like over 300 for his drop in cam. I cant get the hrc froms ervice honda for 277. Is not having the decomp with the hotcam a big deal?

yes hot cams did have a problem but they have long since fixed it now there cams has a casted flange instead of the pressed on so there are no worries i actually have there old style and it's still tighter than........... well lets just say it's tight:o

Yea I know. But if the gains are worth it, a few extra bucks isn't that big of a deal. Hell if I don't break anything for a few months, it would pay for itself.

I"ve heard the sparks cam is one of the wildest cams out there...

But the price sucks....

Does anyone know for sure how much the sparks cam is and the wait on it? As far as paying extra to make sure it doesnt break, the hrc cam should be the best at that i would think. who has the sparks drop in cam? our the hrc cam ? our even the stage 2 hotcam? compare contrast please!!

Thanks for the numbers , what do i need to look for in the numbers? Also will port and polish make a difference in a 440 with 11 to 1 with a fcr and a drop in cam? Has anyone heard of ct racing's port work good or bad? Just asking cause they are close to my house.

I have heard that with any drop in cam and a rev box that the valves with float no matter what. Has anyone else had this problem?

10-03-2003, 12:39 PM
Stock CDI is were it's at. Why risk blowin up your motor for a little more rev:confused: Run the stock CDI and hold the mofo wide open and be fine...:D

If i keep the higher rev box and go with hd valve springs and hardfaced rockers everything will be fine right ?

Hard faced rockers are not for the HRC or the hot cam. That will take out your cam quickly. The hot cam and the HRC are Drop In Cams. I was ready to install heavier springs. called to order some and the shop told me not to run heaver springs. I called three different builders. They all could have taken my money.

You could add an extra clip on the bottom of the stock springs to gain a little more seat pressure.

Im new here so be easy on me:)i just installed a sparks drop in aggressive cam,$375.00,sparks CDI,$99.00,sparks air filter with ring,Sparks FCR 39,$450.00,sparks X6 exhaust, and a set of works steelers with res on my stock 2002 400ex and all i can say is WOW!! made a huge difference.I also used the sparks airbox mod but i swear it made 100% diff in the power i have on my ex.I weigh about 250 and the front end comes up by itself in 2nd gear and comes up really easy in 3rd if i pull a bit.Guess im just a sparks fan but i really like the results. Later,Joe PS,i plan onb getting sparks to port and polish my head this winter and add the JT 11.1 piston with the stock bore.
