what kind of difference would the stage 1 hotcam make over a stock engine. I have a wb e series slip on, k&n filter and jet kit. do i need to change to high compression with this cam. thanks

a stage 1 will give you a nice little bump even with a stock bore/compression. My buddy has one along with a filter/slip-on/rejet and he also has the sparks advace timing key. I only have a e-series/filter/re-jet and his is definately quicker and has better throttle response, he also has his header welds ground and chock removed, pretty much everything that can be done without actual engine work or a bigger carb.

If your asking if you need to re-jet after adding a cam - I don't think most people do, my buddy didn't. He actually tried it and was too rich and dropped back to what he was running prior to putting in the cam. Probably a good idea to do a plug check before and after just to be sure though. Also - I think with a stock bore/compression engine, a stage 2 will kill your bottom end power.

If you are planning on motor work anytime soon I would say wait and do it all at once and go to a stage 2, if you don't have the bucks for that, get the stage 1 and the timing key - only about $160 and it will be a nice bump in power.
