Yeah, buy a new carrier if it is stock. Especially, since Burgard is selling them with bearings for only 125.

or you can buy a moose bearing kit for $30 and change the bearings and seals if your carrier is still in good shape. They are not too hard to change sometimes it is a little hard to get the old bearings out.

Loosen the axle nuts by turning the one closet to your brake rotor clockwise when looking from the center of the axle towards the right hub. Then, loosen the 2nd one the same way. Once you loosen them enough, you will see a ring that has to be popped off the axle.

Heat the carrier with a torch to get the bearings out of it. You will still need to tap/pound them out. You can lightly tap the new ones to get in.

I agree with the above post though. You get two sets of bearings plus the carrier from Burgard so I would go this route if you have a stock carrier.

Make sure you take the seals off each side of the bearing using a small screwdriver and pack more grease in there. I would assume if you buy a new carrier that has a zerk then you should remove these seals altogether.

Use brake cleaner to spray the threads and then use locktite. If you leave grease on the threads, you can forget the nuts staying tight.

Take the hub of the axle on the brake rotor side of the axle. The axle will slide out towards the sprocket side. You might need to hit it a few times with a rubber mallet.

well my bearings just crapped out on me :( i guess its time for newones.....when the 4 wheeler is on a jack with the tire of the ground it wobbles between the swingarm so i huess its the bearings right? also the rotor is a littleloose but maybe that is because the breakpads are comnpletely wore down? why would my carrier be messed up like some other peoples? what causes this?:huh

axle bearings go bad no matter how well u take care of them. IF you dont ride hard or in wet conditions they might last 2 years, but or me its about a year or less. The wobble is because the bearing is probably scrap (missing balls), that makes play, the disk is prolly loose because of the play in the axle or ur axle nut is loose.
