when registered in one state.. can you, say go on vacation, take your quad, and ride w/o havin to register there??
Depends on the laws of your state and the state you want to ride in.
If I were to guess i'd say yes but chek it out first.
Are you talking about the registration/title of the quad or the off road permit?
Out here we have our off road vehicles registered/titled to our address/state and need an off road permit to ride on state/federal land.
I live in Oregon and I know I can ride in Washington with my Oregon permit and I belive I can ride in other neighboring states as well.
This might be a place to start http://www.fs.fed.us/

In Indiana if you want to ride state land you gotta have a Indiana OHV registration, although someone had told me the honor Ohio?

Most states (Not all, just most) honor other states OHV stickers. Definately check before you go though.

yea that would be a good idea.. what would be the penalty if they didnt honor it?? would they actually impound your quad, or just give you a ticket?? here if they want to be an ***** they can impound your quad or dirtbike.. fish and game suck when it comes to quads and bikes.. you're not allowed to ride on any snowmobile trails, really only certain towns will allow it.

The further East you are the more assanine the law enforcement is about these things. Out West it is tickets and fines mainly.
Do a search for OHV sticker and the name of the state you want to visit. You will find some info.

I thought that that an out of state permit would work in Oregon but I couldn't find it on the web site so I emailed them about it.
I'll post when I get a response.

PM me your email address and we can send you some pictures of Silver Lake. We are planning probably for sometime in July 2004. Weather was great, not too hot with a breeze all day.

YOU DO??????? We never have when we come to the dunes?? Maybe I'm confusd who knows:huh
Here's the info I recieved from Atv.Info@state.or.us ....
Question:
> I have thought I read somewhere on the website that out of state permits
were valid in Oregon but I can't find it. Is this this true or do out of
state riders need an Oregon permit to ride on Oregon public land?
>
> Thank you, Joe
Reply:
> We do have reciprocity with many states. If you have a valid ATV permit
from your home state, it should be honored in Oregon for up to 60
consecutive days. Just to confirm, what specific state are you asking about?
Question:
I'm just looking for general info. I have an Oregon permit and I know it
works in Washington, can you give me list of the other states?
Reply:
There are actually too many states for me to list for you. I will tell you the rule instead. We will honor a permit from a resident of another state if that state also honors our permit. We do have reciprocity with Washington.
Hope this helps some.

I can ad to this a little.
There is only 1 state ofr federal property that is legal to ride in Indiana it is called Red Bird.
The registration makes it legal to ride a lot of the county roads IF you have insurance on your quad. People from out of state do not need to be registered in Indiana , but have to be registered in their home state if their home state allows it, have to have insurance and are limited to 10 days per year.
