I was wondering if anyone knew if someone made a piston under 12/1 compression. If I run the 12/1 on the 250 would it get too hot? I have a drop in web cam, do I need to hard-face the rockers? Why doesn't K & N make a jet kit for the 250X? I am going with an IDS-2 pipe. What are your thoughts on th is pipe?

Thanks

By all standard means K&N do make a kit for the 250X, its just the same as the 300EX, the bikes are identicle, aside from the Engine where the 300EX has a longer connecting Rod...which I think is the poorest Exuse ever to bump the name up from 250 to 300...although I suppose it was a good marketing Idea. The 300EX even still has indents in the Plastics on the right side where the Kickstart used to be on the 250X...(someone pointed this out before..can't remember who)

So just get the 300EX Kit...and practically any other aftermarket Parts will go on the 250X too.

Wiseco does not make a lower comp piston for this machine,I took my cyl. in to get punched out & new piston and 12:1 is it( I just went w/stock oversize replacement). Maybe look into the ProX or JE pistons for better options.I know I have a 12:1 piston for that machine, but it's too much for the wife. That piston is collecting dust on a shelf.Yes the bike will run hotter with that piston and fuel will also be an issue.

Try using an 300 EX piston! might have to check first, cause I might be wrong though. because the X and EX have the same bore size (74mm) the only difference is that the X's crank is stroked at 57.3 mm) and the EX is at (65.5mm) so the skirts might be different on the piston. But I do know the EX piston is available from 10.5:1 -- 13:1 comp. Hope this helps you out some!

You are right outlaw. The 300EX piston will not work in the 250X due to the piston pin location in relation to the top of the piston. It would not go all the way up the cylinder bore in an 250X.

I'm not sure what compression ratios are available, but Pro-X makes a piston kit for the 250X. You might want to check with them.

I have a 250 also, and when I was looking for a jet kit it was not available so I called K&n. They told me the kits would not work on the 250 carbs. I ended up buying the DG 38mm carb, which I havn't got all the bugs out of yet. Planning on a big bore kit soon.:huh
