Will the 85 swingarm set up bolt up, or only the 86?

Ya, the 85 ATC swingarm will bolt up to an 86 or 87 frame. The spring will hit the frame suport on the 88 and 89's

Will it bolt onto the 88 or 89 swingarm? or will it be way to long?

the shock is too long, its hits the frame cross brace

At sandlake some time ago there were some guys riding an ATC250R and ended up running into a truck. It bent the forks in quite a bit. They couldn't straighten them with the tools available so they ended up flipping them around. The thing looked like a chopper from hell for the rest of the weekend :p

You could get a frame with no rear cross tube, then the other shock would work.
