How much oil in 250EX??

I am changing the oil in my 250EX for the first time and need to know how much it holds. Also what about the screen. The guy I bought it off of said there is a screen instead of a filter and it only needs cleaned every 200 hours. Is that true? Thanks

yea theres a screen instead of the filter. i got the same thing on my recon and i hate it.:mad: you gotta take the clutch cover thingy in the front off and stuff just to get to it. just change the oil frequently and you wont have to worry about it. i think the oil for the 250ex might be 1 1/2 quarts?

I just changed the oil in my son's and I believe it was 1qt. and 8 ozs. The capacity is more than that but a good share of it stays in the oil cooler.

Thanks. I put in about 1.3 qts and it showed full. I'll ride it for about 5-10 min. then check it to see how it is.

Owners manual anyone??? 1.7 Quarts if you've read it.......

If you put 1.7 quarts back in, you will overfill it. Some of the oil stays in the oil cooler.

I put in 1.3 and it was rode quite a bit this weekend at Little Sahara and it still shows that it is full.

thats what the owners manual says and thats what i put in it and it came out dead on but you are right some stays in the cooler im just quoting the manual
