Up until March my husband was driving his 66 mustang, stuff kept breaking so we had to buy a car quick. Well we bought a 2000 camry with only 25K on it and since day 1 it's had this little leak. I took it in on Friday and they called us and told us they had to keep it b/c they had to tear apart the transimission. Nice huh? a little over 30k miles and it's transmission needs a rebuild. My trucks an 02 and the battery went dead a couple weeks ago. And the engine shifts into neutral when u hit a bump or accelerate fast. God I'm sick of it. Shoulda bought a neon for half the cost.

Toyota is the best manufacturer in my opinion, and all our family owns. I ran my 92 Camry until 195,000 miles with zero problems. You must have a lemon :(

I 've had good luck with them...had 1981 4x4 22r over 100,000 miles,1989 4x4 22re over 100,000 miles,my daughter has my old 1999 corolla.67,000 miles...never had trouble with any of them

Yea, that's odd. Toyota has a great reliability record, especially in thier trucks.

I have a 92' Toyota Camry V6LE with over 200,000 miles, 208 to be exact, the engine runs fine. I just put front struts and front brakes on it, new radiator, and a couple other small things, and it runs great.

my uncle recently gave his '87 toyota pickup to his buddy. right now it has over 205-210,000 miles on it. other than that the brakes are frozen (gotta use the emergency brake), the timing chain clacks around on start-up, and the AC doesn't work, it runs good as new.

4 out of my 5 uncles have had toyota pick-ups at one point, and they have all been happy with them. they all tend to drive hard and beat the chit outta their cars, but all of their toyota trucks have lasted.

we have not had any major problems with my dad's 01 tundra v-8 4x4 yet. the only thing is one of the 12v assecory plugs got pulled out by the cell phone hands free thing. and a little screw cover on the door keeps poping out. nothing major

Yeah I was suprised when I read the first post, you musta go a lemon, toyotas are usually very reliable my friends moms camrey has i think 358,000 km ( about 223,000 miles? ) on it and that runs fine.

Yeah, I'd agree that you got a lemon. I'm on my second Tacoma - no major problems. My father is on his second 4Runner and my mother has a Camry with 96,000 miles on it.

Sorry to hear about your problems. However, any vehicle can have problems. EVEN YOTA's. Personally, I will only buy Toyota's because I've had such good experiences. My brother has had a 92' Camry that he has beat the piss out of for over 100K+ miles and has zero problems. My mother has a 95' Camry that still run's like new. My bro-in-law had a 98' 4Runner that was great for him and then he traded it for a 01' Tundra. IMO, the Tundra is the best fullsize(7/8th) on the market. I have a 99' Tacoma 4X4 V6 (supercharged) that I've beat the crap out of and it still runs like it did the day I bought it home. I like Toyota so much that I just bought a new 03' 4Runner for my wife. Yota makes some very high quality vehicles.

My Yota has 133K, and pulled WAY over its recommended limit this weekend to H/M, but it still gets the job done.

I dont see why your belly-achin, its under warranty:rolleyes:

I would be counting my blessings if I were you. I have a 89 toyota P/U with only 70K on it. I was changing the plugs the other day and noticed the plugs on the drivers side were green. (Burning coolant). Toyota is standing behind the 14 year old truck and replacing the headgaskets, a $2000 repair, for $400 out of my pocket, and I am not even the original owner.

You bought it used? Who knows what happened to it prior to your ownership. It could have been wrecked and fixed in a hurry only to re-coup a loss someone had on the car. Happens a lot. People buy wrecked cars, fix them and sell them as new in good condition! Toyota has an excellent reputation. I would go after the dang seller if I were you! I love my Taco! Check it out.

Nice truck BornOnFire.

Don't get my wrong, I love my truck. Just don't like that both the cars are relatively new and have stupid problems.

But anyway about the truck, we take it out to the desert all the time and as soon as we have, well, money we are going to get kings for it. glass. some bigger tires. what all do you have done to your truck Fire?

i tell ya, my wife has a 2002 Taco TRD and all the bells and whistle and i love that truck. I ride a big ole 2002 Chevy SIlverado crew cab with duramax diesel and allison tranny. not a bad truck but if i wasn't 6'4" id get a taco in a heartbeat. love that little truck but its a bit cramped for me on longer hauls.

Thanks for the Props. I put a 6" Trailmaster Lift on her and that allowed me to put 33" BFG Mud Terrains on. I have heard that 35"s will fit w/ this lift but I may get some Kings or Sway Awawy's to bring it up a few more inches when these current tires wear out. 35"s or 37"s will be next!. I also did a rear shock relocation in the back to prevent the rear leaf springs from rubbing my new Bilstein 5100 Shocks that I put in at the same time I did the lift. It rides awesome. Even better than stock, if you can believe that. I basically went from

" l l " to " / \ "

I have also done a "Deck Plate Mod". Basically cut a hole in the airbox and installed removable cover that can be replaced when you encounter water or heavy dust off-road. The open airbox adds a good amount of throttle response and Mid to High range power. It's a cheap Mod that gives you great results. Aside from that, the rest is cosmetic. Tube steps, shell, Safari Bar w/ PIAA 520 off-road lights, and a few more.....

When you said you were going to get "Glass" for your truck what exactly did you mean? A new windshield?...

stace609

no. lol. even though it does have a few nicks. i mean fiberglass fenders. depending on the tires we put on.

LOL... I remembered your SN and I knew you would be on this thread as well...

The Taco is healthy as a horse but she is going to need some new brakes soon. Like my 400EX she has been rode hard and put away wet too many times and still rides like the day I bought her home....:p

haha, that's because my Taco is smaller then yours..:D Mine is still stock minus the Supercharger, Exhaust, and intake. I've got fuel mods waiting to be installed as well.. I still drive into work in DC and around the city. My roof almost rubs on the parking garages now. I can't lift it until I get another truck/car...

Here is a pic of her from fishing at the lake the other day..

I know she is ugly, but she's a good whore and I like her!
