Well, i will start out by saying i dont have any pictures yet, I will tommorrow.

Anyways, about 8 months ago I purchase a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. it looked like this . . . .

http://www.angelfire.com/jazz/400ex/PIC96dodgeram.JPG

All it had done to it, was westin step bars, a tuff liner, and straight pipes (7 mpg....:( )

Here recently I was kind of up in the air as to if i wanted to keep it or sell it or what, gas mileage was killing me, it idled kind of rough, my power steering pump went out, and the last straw was needed all new brakes and rotors.

Anyways, i thought and thought and thought about selling it but i just couldnt bring myself to do it so i decided i was just gonna fix it up to make it exactly how i wanted it.

I started out by getting a new catalytic converter put on, 450 bucks later, my truck sounded A LOT better, and gas mileage was up around 12. Next I put some audio in the truck, I bought an aftermarket cd player off of a friend and purchased a 10" solarbaric L-5 and had a custom box made. it sounds wonderful.

Next I got my windows tinted. Had a guy do it up real cheap for me and it turned out really well, im very happy with it. I even stuck a big ram head in the back window

And for the big kicker, today I spent ALL DAY with a friend of mine named andy and lifted my truck. I purchased a 3" Suspension lift kit made by sky jacker and also some 33x12.50x15 Pro-Compt all terrain radials and stuck them on a chrome tail gunner rim. I absolute love the way the truck sits now, it isnt really all that much taller than stock, but it sure looks alot more agressive in my opinion.

Future plans of this truck would be to get a spray in bedliner, and i am soon going to be doing some custom interior to the truck, including sending some metal pieces off to pappy for some powdercoatin

Thanks Glow Plug

Sly it cost me 1600 for everything, but chevys are far more expensive to lift then a dodge. I ordered everything from www.ntwonline.com and found that they have about the best prices.

Blondie, thanks i kinda wanted to put 35s on there but i really am not off road all that often and anything bigger than my 33inch tires and 3 inch lift would have kept me out of parking garages and even my own garage, so I am happy with my 33 inch tires.

Thanks Ny300ex

nice truck bud. A friend of mine had a Dodge 1500 4x4, 8 inch lift and 38's. This thing had some major balls, and could pass everything....except a gas station.

Dodges are the worst for gas mileage, even with the smallest of lifts. Not baggin your truck at all, it's very nice actually, but if I get something with any lift on it, it's gonna be a diesel.

So how does a stereo system help your truck stop?
Did the window tint fix your power steering pump?
It might not stop or steer but the stereo rocks and it looks good.
Just giving ya trouble it just looks like you got your priorties mixed up. Or maybe you fixed that stuff to and didn't mention it?

That pissed me off. I think its because you sound like my mom's dumbass boyfreind...

Anyways, that truck is kickass! Good job, derek. If I had a lifted truck I would want it to look like that.

glamis, i agree with you on the gas milage thing, it sucks. Anyways, Ill try and get a picture of andys truck here in the next day or two, it has 8 inch suspension lift, and 3 inch body lift. He only has 37.5 inch tires on it though, he could go way bigger. His truck looks awesome though cause here recently he painted it a real nice orange looking color, it is very original. Ill try and get a picture of his later.

derek, was this your first lift installatoin? I'm ordering a 3" suspension lift as soon as my quad sells. my buddy and i are going to put it in, i've never done a lift before so it'll be interesting.

did everything mount up ok or did it give you any trouble...let me know man, thanks

derekhonda
09-29-2003, 05:06 PM
yes this was my first lift, but my friend andy has done about 5 dodges so he new some tricks. It was all pretty basic to be honest with you, toughest part of it was my lower control arm (3rd picture down, its red and says "skyjacker") well my stock one was stuck in there pretty good, took us about 2 hours to fiddle with it then we just got a torch and cut through the bolts and bought a new set. That was really the only problem, get a get set of spring retainers (i think thats what its called) and be prepared to spend some time in the garage.

alright sounds good...about how much did just the lift cost you? i found a site that'ss elling a 3" tuff country lift with shocks for around 470.

and how was it that you were getting 8 mpg? was your cat hollowed out or something?

derekhonda
09-30-2003, 05:44 AM
my sky jacker cost 375 and then all 4 shocks cost 100, and i would go with more of a brand name. My cat as far as i know was non exhistant.

NTPracing22
09-30-2003, 11:53 AM
so you just got a Class 1 lift kit on ntwonline then got the shocks sperate correct? I'm just trying to get more of an idea of what to order when it comes time....

i need my quad to sell!!! lol

derekhonda
09-30-2003, 02:00 PM
yup, class 1 kit for 375 (not the system, the kit) and then all 4 shocks add up to like 180 or something but if you buy the kit and the shocks, its 4 shocks for a hundred.

CAN ANYONE PHOTOSHOP SOMETHING FOR ME???

09-30-2003, 02:09 PM

Rocker panels are the fenders right under the door
You probably mean chrome nerf bars.

SICK TRUCK! I'm normally into lowered trucks (I got a dodge on 22's), but that truck is just kickarse! I'd roll it anyday

derekhonda
09-30-2003, 05:46 PM
NO NO GUYS ! I meant rocker panels, I do have nerf bars, well, actually i only have one, the other one is in a shop getting straightened, look at the pictures of my truck on the passenger side, thats one of my nerf bars. I meant rocker panels! I think it would look sick with them on them.

Thanks for the comments.

Those are chrome. Just hard to tell from the pic
If you put them on, they're a huge ****** to get off. You have to re-paint. I hate them because of that, plus they look gaudy.
But, It's your truck

derekhonda
09-30-2003, 09:13 PM
that is kinda why i wanna see them photochopped on first, i think it would look good with my chrome rims, but i just dont know yet. Someone help me please !
