Nasty gas?!?!

I have an 01 416ex and I was riding a wheelie one day and... don't laugh, but fell off the back of it and stood the bike on the grab bar. Some gas dripped out of the gas cap and it was a rusty or dirty looking color. Now this has happened to me twice now with two different tanks of gas. Does any one have a suggestion of what would cause this?

The tank itself is plastic but I belive the most of the petcock is metal. There could have been some water in the tank and if the gas level was low for awhile it couold caused some surface rust.

Or if it came out of the vent tube it could have just been some dirt in there.

I'd drain the tank and clean it out just in case. Maybe even the carb if there really is rust in the tank.

I have a feeling its actually water coming out of your steering stem. The water gets in when u wash the quad. Freaked me out yesterday when i did the same thing u did, and it hit me in the face.:blah:

it mihgt be your cap there might be watter in there too. the inside has some metel in them i think. i dont know.

That's what it is, mine does the same thing, only the water that comes out of mine is black.
