I took off the stock start button because its big, clunky, and gay. I replaced it with a YZ kill switch for a start button. I also hooked up my teather cord. But, now it won't start unless it's in nuetral. What do I have to do? Or what wires will allow it to do so?

I would say you have 3 chocies

1. Figure out what you did wrong by rechecking your wiring or taking it to a dealer ship or something

2. Get used to starting in nuetral

or 3. Put the old start button back on

Did you give YFZ central a try? It's a longshot, but someone over there may have tried it or at least know the wiring.

do you still have the stock clutch lever? i dont remember if that thing has the safety switch on it like the EX does but all you have to do is wire them 2 wires together and it will start in any gear. otherwise i have no idea what the problem is.

Cody, I don't know if this has anything to do with your situation, but Gopher said the wiring for a kill switch on the YFZ450 is not like other quads. It is wired opposite of a 400ex/250r. He put on a Arctic Cat snowmobile kill on his. He could probably help you if this is the case.
Good luck,
Scott

same thing happened to my cousin, he cut off the two wires that were tied together at the bottom when he put the yz one on, so if u cut them down there u gotta find those 2 wires and tie em back together
