Does anyone know if you can take apart the tri-metal xr 400 gasket and only use one of the pieces for a head gasket instead f all three? I just figured you would be able to bump up compression a little more if it sealed properly.

I spoz you could.... I don't think I'd ever do it. You'd have to prolly run full race gas I'd think... but then agian I'm 15...young and stupid.-darren

If you do try this buy a new gasket then seperate just one pece leave two so you get the compresd efect when you tourqe the head bolts. That will still rais the compresson a little . you will need a bit higher fuel ratio .or change air fuel ratio.

That is what almost everyone who builds a 440 does they use the center layer of the head gasket and run no base gasket just honda bond. Im not completely sure but im almost postive that creates a true 11:1 comp ratio when using a 11:1 piston. Somebody please correct me if you know what your talking about and im wrong.

I run an xr gasket on my 12.5 wiseco 440 & its thin enough compared to stock stock ex thickness if you try seperating the plates youde probably bend the hell out of it & wouldnt make a good seal but if you dont mind doin it over again go for it & let us know if it worked
