Had one a long time ago but ripped the engine and centrifugal drive out of it and helped my dad build a homemade odyssey.

My dad owns a 96 SkiDoo Mach Z 780 Triple/Triple. It's a very fast machine for stock. We also have a 2000 MXZ 700. I'd like to get my own, but just don't have the funds right now.

Where's everyone ride their sleds at? We ride on our farmground a bunch, but we also make a few trips to Gaylord Michigan. I'd like to make it to the U.P. this year though. They are already having chances of snowshowers this week i heard.

Have any of you been to the snowmobile auction in Bronson MI? It's a good place to pick up sleds rather inexpensively.
www.snowmobileauction.com
Check out the price reports and you can see what they've been selling stuff for.

yes i know the 700 is dirty, for some reason it leaks injection oil when it sits in the hot trailer, but its a 98, hes getting that fixed and new studs. my 97 mxz 440 was sold, it was a good sled, we still have my bros 2000 mxz 440 but that will prolly be sold eventually. we are getting a rev 700 this year.

thats the problem with ski-doos....theyre slow for their engine size:blah: ...lol...j/k...i only need a couple hundred feet to get up to top speed.....:ermm: :D

Adam202
09-28-2003, 03:49 PM
well its fast on take off till i hit about 60 and then it climbs slow, once my dads 700 triple hits 90 it starts climbing slow but it gets there VERY fast. i was in the U.P and there was a trail next to the expressway, well i would pass cars and stop let them catch up and just blow by them, it was some of the most fun ive ever had snowmobiling. my 440 could catch them but i would be pinned forever. those rotax motors are the best snowmobile motors out there. anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong, our 440's are the fan cooled ones, there not even liquid. so 80mph for a 440 fan isnt so bad at all. :D

I have a '98 Polaris 500 that is bored and ported with twin pipes and a bunch of other stuff and I just bought an '01 XC 800 that is stock for now except a high flow airbox and studs, but that won't last long.

Dad's had the Mach Z up to 115 out on the lake. Those triple/triple's make gobs of horsepower. It's a handful on a trail though.

yea they are heavy sleds, it sure is worth it tho. but the twin 700's dominate. i cant wait to get the rev 700.

I haven't ever had my Mach Z topped out...never had a place to unfortunatly. I have to go to a lake this year, but I say that every year. I had it going up a dirt road that was just about glare ice. The speedometer was reading 110, and I cracked on it and the rear end started fish-tailing (not incredibly bad, but enough to get your heart rate up), the speedometer jumped up but I wasn't paying attention to see what it read....it obviously was just going up because it was spinning anyway.

Very nice Mach. I haven't gotten to ride the newer model 800cc Mach's. But I've heard they are a mean machine. The one we have was the last year I think for the 780's. It's too bad no one wants to build a triple/triple anymore. They are awesome sleds. It looks like polaris doesn't offer their xcr anymore, and I think that was the last one of them out there.

Thanks Man...I'm not a big fan of the graphics on it, so I think I'm going to update them to the newer flame ones...I seem to have a thing for flame graphics for some reason...hehe.

I drove one of the 780's before I bought mine. I was almost set to buy it then I found a website that showed sled listings in canada, and I actually picked mine up, up there for less than they were asking for the 780. I don't know that the motor really feels a whole lots different, maybe a little more low end, but the chassis is really a huge improvement.

I really like the sled when it's running right. I had a few small issues that were a pain because everybody thought the problems were bigger than they actually were....You know how it is. For a big sled it handles great though...a little heavy over jumps, but anywhere else it's awesome.

It's too bad the manufacturers are phasing the bigger sleds out...People just aren't buying them I guess. Even though cruising wide open acrossed a lake or open field isn't very difficult it's still a rush...gotta love it.

If you are ever in the neighborhood you are welcome to take mine for a spin.

:D

I sold my 94 Ski Doo Mach Z 780 Triple/Triple over the summer. It was a a fast, reliable sledd, but it was heavy on the trails. The suspension couldn't deal with pounding through the whoops we have here in Mass. I would love to get my hand on a new MX-Z Rev, but don't have the cash for it. Probably just buy a late 90's MXZ for this winter. A few more months and the white stuff will be here! Happy Trails!

You will love this sled! What year are you thinking about buying it? I beat the crap out of it and it held up very good and I was even with Ski Doo REV 800 on the trails! They have monster low end and they do wheelie well on the hard packed snow...Good Luck!

You are going to LOVE it, if you crack the throttle it'll do wheelies...I wish I had an F7

You have F6 now?? I test rode the demo at the dealer and I was really impress by the power and how easy the handling was! If you have one how is the gas mileage??

See ya,
