I'm looking for a good rugged flashlight. I currently have a small single LED light I bought from Walmart. I am very impressed with the light output and battery life of the LED technology.

Anyone know of any good LED flashlights using 5-7 LED's?

I'm looking at this one..

how do those compare to the mag-lite flashlights?

How much does the one pictured cost?

This one is around $40.... its pretty high quailty, on par with MagLights.

As for a Mag light, I know they are built VERY well, but I think LED lighting is MUCH better. They claim around 10-12 years for the LED lights themselves and some lights can stay on from 20+ hours to several days on a single battery(s).

Those LED flash lights are pretty hard to not get a good deal with. I haven't seen a bad LED flash light to date. The only thing is price/"quantity" really.

LED's are blindingly bright. I got a head light (a light you strap to your head) that has 3 led's, I use it constantly.

Flag down the next Snap-On, Mac or Matco truck you see. They all carry them. I have a Stylus, pocket light that I use daily at work. it has one bulb and runs on 3 AAAA yep, thats right AAAA. But any way the tool monkeys carry anything from 1bulb lights up to 10 bulb lights.

I use streamlight flashlights. Several models. Stinger, Ultra Stinger. Very high candle power. Try www.brightguy.com

I wasn't impressed with the LED flashlights I saw during the APEX tool expo during the SEMA show this year, but it was in a lighted building so it's hard to judge the light output. I'll have to check them out when it's dark sometime. LED's last forever and don't use hardly any power.

i have one of the ones from walmart and one of the pen lights from the snap-on man. i really like them both. i would love to get a led one like in your pic. my problem with the maglight is that it EATS batterys. and i dont have $10 for batteries every time i use it. i have the one from walmart behind my seat in my truck along with the dead battery ******* maglight.
