I was thinking about shaving the front fenders of my 300ex. I ride at the dunes mostly and was wondering how cut fenders might affect the riding? Mainly, do the tires throw a lot of sand in your face or what? Thanks for any input.

You'll love em once you cut them off!! Just make sure you do a good job and take your time. I've never missed them.

Use electrical tape to mark the edge of where you want your cut before you tear into it.

If you are running front dirt tires they will throw up wet sand. Sand tires don't at all.

After cutting mine, no matter what condition I don't get any muddier than I did before really... Just keep the front in the air & you won't have any problems.

I like being able to see my front tires when cresting dunes I think it's a good idea especially for the dunes.

The only real problem I've had with cut fenders is riding in the rain, in grass or dirt, your arms get soaked, but you probably don't ride on the rain much, so go for it. It's alot nicer to be able to see the front end!

yea i was skeptical on cutting my 400ex fronts...and i went to the motocross track and i saw how much air drag them front plastics caused and i went home got the sharpie, saws all and sand paper...and went to work....the fronts act as a big parachute...and ya cant see ya tires...i rode my friends 400ex with his plastics still on...and i didnt like it...now i must see my front tires....also...if you are worried bout getin muddy...i believe this..you are riddin a quad...your gonna get muddy reguardless...besides sport quad fenders dont supply much mud protection any ways....so i say cut um....ull love it...its awsome...

ive seen some pretty ugly fenders, people just being sloppy and getting ruff edges, so make sure you know what you are doing before u jump into it

I just lined up a pattern with electrical tape, took a jigsaw with a fine blade & went at'm, filed off the dingleberries....took about 30 minutes & a couple beers. Not hard at all.

Hey zephead400ex...ever thought anymore about cutting yours?

I just cut mine on my 300 yesterday. I rode it today in the mud and it really wasn't any different. I really didn't get any more mud on me than before. With my front end widened my tires weren't under the fenders anyhow. Plus it looks way better! I say go for it.

I think it looks better with them but it would be nice to see my front tires but thats my opinion
