if u got the money go with aftermaket set of a arms. the 400 a arms is a cheap way to widin the 300 out. i did it to mine and have a +2 axle and the front tires are almost even with the rear. but i am running 400 front shocks with lowering kit. dont know for sure on how much wider it makes. just trying to help.

the 400ex a arms add around 1.75" per side

Actually I thought when we measured the 400 Arms are a inch per side wider, but could be wrong. I added 3" per side on my stock arms (w/ a qualified fabricator) & it's AWESOME!! If you don't have the $$ to buy aftermarket I would def go w/ the 400 ones, from what I hear you should put your $$ into the works, to start:) I wish I could afford some shocks but that will be a ways down the road:( anyway good luck!!

this isnt a bad mod, but the steering stem/tierod geometry on the 300 is different than the 400, so i would only use it as a temp fix until you can find a cheap set of aftermarket 300ex a-arms.

the quadshop has done some experimenting with 300 a-arms (these particular a-arms are lsr plus 2, 300ex) with an upper shock mount relocater (puts shocks in same place as a 400ex) they are using 17 inch elka tripple rates with rezzies, results so far are phenomenal.

Just put 300ex or 300ex shocks and you should find it.

Gosh seems a litttle spendy since it starts @ $25 & the reserve isn't even met yet + $10 shipping:huh probably only take a few $$ to make one if you know the right people. Thanks for posting the link though cuz now I have a pic to look at:)

Hiya,
It's my first time posting here, so I figgered I'd throw in my 2 cents.
400 EX a-arms'll fit fine, and widen up the front nicely. You'll get waaaay better handling and stability - they are a direct bolt-on.
What you need though are new shocks - pick up a set of used blaster shocks, you can get them from a salvage joint for cheap. They are about an inch longer, and are almost a perfect bolt-on also. You'll need to grind a bit off the ends so they fit properly, and you can enlarge the upper bracket by heating and bending the upper tabs.
This whole mess bolted on perfectly, and there were no ill-effects from any out-of-sync steering geometry:rolleyes: . I used the setup for 2 years, and the guy who bought it from me is still riding it, very happily.
Upper and lower a-arms................$160.00
Blaster shocks..................................$30.00
Couple hours diddling with shocks......FREE

No horsepower, but it carved around trees, rocks, and tight trails like mad, and would never tip over.

There you go, cheap, easy, fun. Do it.

:eek2: :huh As far as I can tell from riding our blaster then getting on my 300 w/ stock shocks, the blaster shocks suck!! My son even says that when he hopes on mine. They are not very cushy:p but hey if it works what the hell huh!!

Maybe I got lucky and the set I nabbed wasn't hosed, 'cause the setup worked perfectly, it was very versatile to boot. I'll confirm, however, that you must make certain the set you buy isn't worn out. There are a lot of them lying around, so you have to be careful when buying - spring sag, nitrogen and oil wearing out, corrosion, etc all play a factor.
If you can find a deal on a set of rebuildables, however, now that's a different story!
