HMF / T_4 / E-SERIES Which of these pipes work the best on a stock 400 with a jet and filter change? I have not read any reviews on the HMF but like how they look. I mostly trail ride in 3rd or 4th gear and need more low to mid range power for pulling out of the corners. any advice would be appreciated. Any HMF guys please respond... Thanks!!

I would say the e series or the HMF
the HMF is pretty loud but they do make a quiet core

They are both comparably in price. I don't think you could go wrong either way..

Mean, I have the HMF and really like it. It is loud though.

I don't know if it performs any better than the eseries, but there have been a number of people on here that have broken there eseries or they have fallen apart. However eseries probably outnumbers all other pipes combined 100 to 1.

i have the HMF slip on and is a great pipe for the price. yes it is loud but like silverfox said they do make a quiet core. if you do what the internet site tells u to do u will see and feel a big difference, i did here is the site. www.hmfengineering.com

I use to have a t-4 and I did not notice a lot more power over the stock, I had a KandN air filter and jet kit had to it and that gave it some power mainly in the top end though. When I was in a race someone came into the back of me and smashed my t-4 up so I ordered a S/O Hmf and I can say is that there was a big change in power it felt like, and I have ridden on a 400 with an E series before and it felt like it had more power than the t-4 but not as much as the HMF so I would go with the HMF and if your 400 is red then i would ask for it to be p/c red.

i like the hmf the best. it performs good and sounds real good. the t-4 is also a good pipe with a nice sound. the e-series is okay. just everyone has it and i like to be different

thanks for the responses. i was leaning towards the HMF cause I really don't like how the E-SERIES looks. You guys are making it an easier choice. I have a yellow 400 and seen a yellow pipe on HMF's site. that might be interesting?

I have a T4 and i love it, it gives good mid range and top end, maybe not the best pipe for a 400 but mines got a KN and its jetted s oit woke her up a bit... try the FMF powercore 4 i heard its great fro trail and recriding, hmf is more for racing, correct?

What jets do you guys run? The HMF web site said to run a 175 with the slip on or 200 with full system, seems way too steep to me. I live in wisconsin so maybe 700 feet above sea level? i'm not sure, not real high anyways. What would be a good jet with the slip on, uni filter, and a powroll vented airbox lid?

i am running a 170 mj, k&n airfilter, 3 1/2 turns out on air/fuel screw, and messed around with the needle, it also wouldnt hurt to get a 42 pilot jet also.
