does anyone have xp home and the mouse just automatically jump to the start button ALL of the time. some times it jumps to the close button, but mostly to the start button. i think it might be a setting or just my crappy mouse. but it makes me extremely angry. its a logitech infa-red mouse. any help would be appreciated.

Good for you.

I have never seen that happen on a windows xp comp, at school I've been on prolly 30 or more of our comps, and none have ever done that. I have never even heard of that happening. I'd check around the options menu's, but we dont have the Home edition, only Pro.

Ive had pro for about a yr and a 1/2...but haven't had that problem, maybe its just the home version, although I did have a mouse prob once...turned out it wasnt completely plugged it,try updating the driver maybe

it's really an easy fix. go to control panel, double click on mouse, click pointer options. uncheck the "snap to" option. hope this helps

Sounds like a crappy mouse to me. I havent had any trouble with Home on my 2 PCs or Pro on my server.

;) What he said. I have XP home and havent had a single problem with it yet. I would never go back to 95/98.

As for the pop ups, you're goin to the wrong sites... try payin for it;)

Sounds like spyware or just normal pop-ups. Try scaning your computer with Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/ - and see what comes up. There is also lots of free pop-up blockers you could install, I just use the one intergrated w/ my firewall.
Be very careful when visiting questionable sites(ie. porn) that use ActiveX as well, malicious code that installs spyware can be embedded into ActiveX controls very easily.

i dont have that option, (not stock mouse) i do have the one that says jump to ok boxes and stuff. thats not it though. it does it all the time. i can be playing BF1942 and my guy will just spin around in circles cause it jumped to the corner, or i will go to click on a thread and when i click the start menu will come up cause the pointer jumped to the start button. autocad and inventor are all messed up. id blame it on the mouse but i got the same thing at work. the only difference is pro 2000/xp home.

I have a Logitech optical mouse and am running XP home on this computer and haven't had any problems. Have you tried going to the Logitech website and searching for new software or updated drivers for your mouse?

Reinstall your mouse software or has it always done that?

i hink i fixed it. the mouse was hooked thru the mouse port, so hooked thru the usb port, re-installed it and downloaded the new thing from their website. hasnt did the jumping thing yet, and inventor is fixed. autocad is not, i just need to find the settings in it and i will be set.

thanks for the help guys
