How Many links are on a 400ex chain?

Not every 400ex will have the same length chain. Mine for instance had a 96 link chain. I have heard of OEM chains coming in anywhere from 92 to 100 links, but in almost every case it is a 94. What I do is buy a couple links over what it should be just in case the chains aren't exactly the same length. It is better to have too much than too little. It isn't hard to remove links if you have the right tools. It can be done quite easily with an angle grinder, punch, hammer, and a bit of imagination. :)

Me and my buddy had to put on a new chain in the parking lot of the silver lake sand dunes. We put it on and cut it and put the master link in and it wasn't on the front sprocket:eek2:. Luckly we had an extra master link and added more on.
