I use my bike for riding only...what is the disadventage of a Advence Ignition key? I kown about heating but is it a problem for me?? I'm surprise to see no topic on it..... :huh :huh .... is it good or make another mods on my bike before...
Thanks

I've heard that when you runa high compression piston, and a advance the timing, you can run very hot. I don't think it is a problem at all with stock or mildly modified motors.

I am not positive on the hp but it gives a more crisp throttle response if your bike is stock you won't run into any problems I would not run it in a 440 big bore kit.

I am considering doing the same thing. My current mods are only a 155 main/ 42 pilot/ k&N with outerwears & no lid, & HMF slip on. Has anyone had any problems with overheating on nearly stock machines? I do malot of long trail riding.

that would be ALOT of trail riding. (not malot). I get so excited talking about quads that I have to type with one hand.

You won't see any problems with the advanced key. I ran it with just "bolt-on" mods and didn't see any heat increase. Like Dusty said, it will give you a crisper throttle. I actually left it in when I modded the motor internals and have had no problems with it. I do, however, run 110 fuel so that helps with the heat.

Does it make it spark sooner or later?

then why don't they call it a retard timing key?

I put one in and I didn't see any difference in performance althou my engine was running alot hotter so I took it out. Yes there are a few threads on it , do a search. You gotta find out how to do it right before you start taking your quad apart

Stock, the ignition fires before the top of the stroke.
The key advances the timing 6 degrees & so it fires closer to top dead center.
Little bit higher compression.
