Will a 250r aftermarket axle fit on a 400ex if I use 250r wheel hubs? Will eveything else work/line up (brakes, sprocket, etc?) Need to know soon! Thanks in advance.

as far as i know it should and yes if you use 250r hubs it will work just fine but you might need new axle nut bolts;)

Ok thanks. It is a durablue X-33 (i know, durabreak, blah blah) with billet wheel hubs already on it. I can get it really CHEAP so it's kind of hard to pass up. One more question though, do I HAVE to use an antifade locknut or will the stock one work fine for now.

just get a billet lock nut off of Ebay for 45 bucks, it does the same thing basicly......

The axle should fit if you use the right components. As far as the lock nut we sell a billet one for $32

That sounds good Colby. I will probably get one of those once I get the axle. I can use my stock one temporarily though, right?

The stock locknut set should work temporarily, but check it often. OFTEN! It seems that once you break them loose the first time, you can't keep them things on.

I had a 2+2 250r axle in my 400ex and the stock nut would NOT
work at all.I had to buy an aftermarket nut for 250r to make it work.

the way it works is this. The measurement for a 250r and a 400ex , form the sprocket hub to the snap ring grove is about 3/8 difference. When you run a 400ex axle on a 250r, you have to use the spacer from the 400ex (the threaded part fo the lock assm.) and vice versa. That all changes when you use aftermarket lock nuts, but with a 400ex and a 250R axle, just use the 250R spacer and you are golden.

Is the 400ex threaded spacer 3/8" wider or is the 250r threaded spacer 3/8" wider?

250R spacer is wider. In fact I had to use a 250R spacer on my x-33 axle on my 400ex. I think durablue might make them both the same (400ex and 250r x-33), or they send you the other one of they are out of stock on the other. Most people think the only difference is the hubs, its not.

I did not know that they were different widths. Can anyone else attest to this? This is good info to know.

As far as I know the stock hardware for the 2 quads are the same. But the 2+2 and x33 axle for 250r has the grove out farther
than the 400.When I did mine I had to get a nut for 2+2 or x33
250r.I bought the cheap nut and it came loose all the time.If I had to do it over I would buy the antifade nut.
