im in the market for a 400ex and i like to have papers with the quad when i buy one so i told my dad id like it to have either a title or registration on it so i know it isnt stolen. my dad tells me that there is NO such thing as a quad title. i disagree i say there is such thing as a quad title since i always see it advertised on ebay ect, and i know from researching. there is 100 bucks on the line and im pretty dam sure im right but could you just explain if there is a title( peice of paper) or if the registration is what the title would be on somethign like a car(he says the registration is the title).

if im wrong i will take the pain and guilt of being an a**hole.

In NY when you buy a new quad you get ONLY a "certificate of orgin" (not a title). It looks like a title. When you bring it in to be registered, you will only get a registration back. You will NEVER see the "certificate of orgin" again.

All you need is a recipt and the registration when you buy a used one. If they happen to have the certificate of orgin when you buy it....that's cool....just remember that when you register it....you'll never see that piece of paper again....make a copy if ya want.

us cheese heads have them too...if you look at the vin number on the frame of a quad...that is required to match the title and registration number so its not stolen or anything like that.

we got titles, registration, insurance, the whole deal


edit: just goto the dmv and pick up some ATV registration papers

If NY is anything like Kentucky, finding a 400EX for cheap shouldn't be a problem. I can find a piped, well taken care of 400EX with nerfs and new tires for $3,200 easy. And this was before the 450R info was released to the public. A lot of people still don't know about it either. I talked to several people with 400EX's the other day that never heard of the YFZ!

Just look around and you'll find one. ;)
