I just got a 48 tooth aluminum rear from sprocket specialists, and was wondering if anyone uses a gear this big, Are sprocket specialists any good? I plan on using 15/48 for MX. I would put a pic, but It wont work

you must have mind boggling accerlation but you should lose alot of top speed if you have 18 inch tires with the 48 rear

48 tooth!!! oh my gosh, you won't have any top speed. i have never tried that kind of gearing but for my riding style, i would not like it one bit. you will have to remove the skid plate probally to make it fit. i didn't even know you could get a 48 tooth sprocket.

Are you talking about a bike? Sprocket Specialists doesn't make anything over a 41 for an EX unless you had a custom sprocket made in which case you would need to remove your skidplate and be left with roughly 2" of ground clearance. So if you are in fact putting a 48 tooth sprocket on there, then yes it is too big. If it is on a bike, no. My friend has a 55 tooth on his RM125 and it works great.

I had sprocket specialists custom make it, for my 400ex/CR250. I had 15/44, but it wasn't enough. It should be easy to get the hole shot:D

I didn't read your sig. I thought you were talking about an EX. I still think you might have ground clearance issues.

With the CR250 engine I have to use a 15 front so the chain doesn't dig into the swingarm. the shaft for the sprocket is lower than the 400ex motor was

What are you going to do about the vibration issues with the CR motor?

The vibration was really bad, until I put a head mount on. That took away a lot of the vibration. I had to gusset the frame a lot, so it would take the vibration, and it is not cracking anymore. You can really feal it in the handelbars, but the power of the CR250 motor makes it worth it.
