Here are some dyno runs of a YFZ with various mods done to it. I was suprised to see it never get above 50hp. I trust Laz's dyno'ing more than anyone elses. At least we'll have a baseline to compare the TRX to because I'm sure Laz will be running a TRX on there as soon as he can get one:D I'm going to guess ahead of time and say a little more power bottom-to-mid from the TRX with a flatter torque curve but will sacrifice 2hp on top.

I am not sure what to think of Lazarus' dyno numbers. I personally have no knowledge of how they operate, but do have personal experience with using them. On Lazarus' web site his numbers for a stock yfz 450 are 41.2 h.p. This month's 4 wheel atv action magazine has CT Racing having it at 35 h.p. Lazarus' dynoed FDO Racings 473 stroker for the 400 EX @ 52 h.p. I've had my FDO 493, (it has everything in it!), dynoed by two completely different people in two different states and both of them read 44h.p. All people claim their dyno's are SAE corrected, so why are Lazarus' numbers so much higher than everyone elses? For him to get 8 more h.p. out of a 473 than I get out of a 493 by the same builder is perplexing. By the way, I had dyno tires on when dynoing the quad.

Good info Guy - the chart with the full HMF system is impressive, look at how long it stays near stock hp output vs. the other charts

my friend got his yfz dynoed and if i remember right it had 43 horses according to the dyno

yep, dynos vary a horsepower or 2 depending on many factors anyways (ie- jetting, humidity, tires, ect). i'd say the numbers from GT thunder are pretty accurate. i know my friend had a pipe on it now but i'm not sure if he had it yet when it was dynoed. i am pretty sure it was all stock

Even if the numbers are a little higher than others, the TRX will be on the same dyno so we'll get an accurate comparison.

Can anyone answer why GT Thunder is consistently higher than everyone on h.p. numbers. . I'm showing dyno numbers that are either posted or in a magazine and he is not 1-2 h.p. different! He's over 6 h.p. on a 35 h.p. quad! I'm thinking maybe he's getting crank horse power and not rear wheel h.p.

Because he runs Hoosiers on his dyno runs.
You will loose 5-6hp on a dyno running slicks as compared to running knobbies.

In my first post I stated my dyno runs were run on slicks, the same as Lazarus. And I doubt Allen Knowles at CT Racing ran the Predator and YFZ on knobbies for the shootout in the mag.
