aproy 58HP with the power kit. Are you sure about that, cause that would be awsome.

I'm guessing that's at the crank and not at the wheels (if that 58hp number truly came from Honda). They should charge $500 for the power-up kit and throw a FCR in.

Yeah Guy that would be great to pick up an FCR for $200!

Well even with the kit that Honda's giving us they're making a nice piece of coin at $300. The needle and jet probably costs them $.05 and the lid, plastic elbow and cam probably costs under $100. All these parts are manufactured in bulk and with as many as Honda buys you can bet they get deep discounts versus what we pay. I'd even pay $550-->give me the FCR:D :macho

My dealer/sponcer/freind showed me the invoice for the kit and Honda claims 13% increase over stock (5hp?). Add a better carb, higher comp piston, and posibly a curtis sparks pipe along with it and it'll rip, but reliably.

58 horse my ***.....I bet the Trx450r doesnt make a horse over 45 at the rear tires even with that kit and an fcr40...

I'm with Robby on this one,
And who is to say that an FCR 39/40/41 is going to make more than the 42? Although an FCR will most likely make better power for racing.

I have yet to see 55hp from any of the bike tuners [ie Pro Circuit, FMF] on big bore versions of the 450's

I guess peeps do to much readin and not enough racing....Kevin Windham's bike doesnt even make 55 horse at the rear tire...

im not saying it doesnt, but hes got a $300,000 bike. Im sure it has more than 55 at the wheel bc they are 54 at the crank stock.

also. ive heard from my source that the 450r kit will have a 20% increase in HP.

I didn't say I believed the 58hp figure, hence my statement "(if that 58hp number truly came from Honda)". I simply said any horsepower figure near that number is being read at the crank.

There's also no arguing the fact that the FCR carb is better. Let's face it, serious racers are going to install it anyway so why not offer it in the power-up kit and charge us a few more clams?

09-22-2003, 09:48 PM
well, I can say this. I dont think the power up kit is worth 299...

the dynos might not be off though, the motor is based on crf technology(which is derived formt he indy cars) but thats as far as the crf and the trx motors go.

who knows what adding a counter balancer will do to the motor, or what affects will happen by changing the bore and stroke measurements.....

we just dont know until its released.........PERIOD.... everyone is going to have to wait for a test on it.....

im sure as soon as they hit floors, some one will dyno it stock, then stick a hrc kit in it and dyno it again...
