ok he just recently bought those from me, and took them out and dented his rim, as you can see..I was wondering if after he hammers that back down, will he be able to weld a race ring on there? I didnt weld one on there because on my 250r it would have caused clearance issues with the spindles...but since he owns a 400ex, i was wondering if its possible to weld one on there without any clearance problems...

Your best bet would be to ask whoever is doing the welding. If it can be pounded back evenly it should work.

Let's see if this works....

yes it can be done and they make different rings for the inside of frt wheels that are not as wide to give the needed clearance. Be sure and use something that is rounded against the rim when beating it back. Heating just a little will help but be careful not to get it too hot. I use a heat gun instead of a torch sometimes.
