250ex Or 250z

Getting a new quad for the wife & kids for christmas and pretty much have it narrowed down to these two. Im a diehard honda fan and love the 400ex i have but from some of the people i've talked to at the local riding areas the suzuki looks like a pretty good choice. Every body ive talked to that has one really likes it and i havent heard of any problems with them. The suzuki's msrp is $400 more. So what do you guys think.

people are practically giving away almost new 250ex's right now, dont know about the zuki

i would get the z250.......... slightly bigger engine and it looks better

I dont like the 250ex motor but they seem verry die hard engine
and the z250 is juet fuggly to mee.

The z250 is deffinately more powerful than the 250ex, and has a little better suspension, otherwise they are very similar, just decide whether you want red, yellow, or white.

Pick up the current issue of Dirt Wheels (Nov 03). They do a pretty good comparison of the two. That will be the closest thing to riding the two side by side you'll get.

i like my 250 its fast (not as fast as my 400 lol) it jumps good its faster then a z250 also ez to use for your wife and kids

Dirt Wheels kinda picked the 250EX the best of the 2 in the new issue...my son had one it was nice...but he wanted a CR85 so now he has a 2003 CR85...the 250 is a good solid quad....bulletproof....the 250Ex walked away in drag races in DIRT Wheels...

you could always buy my 1991 250x, i hear the x's are faster than the ex's, only real drawback is the kick start, but mine always starts first kick, all maintenance always done, fresh top end job, custom made nerf bars, have cobra exhaust for it, red frame, white cut plastics, the x uses the 300ex head doesn't it? pm me if you might be interested, nothin wrong with it, have paddle tires for it that were used once at buttercup, runs near perfect, more info about it just pm me, I have pictures of it, send me a pm if or if not interested, i thought it would be worth a shot, i'm sellin it because i need the money for the '69 mustang i'm rebuilding

the numbers are better for the Z but the Z does not beat the EX in the suspension dep.

250ex hands down. I have ridden one of my friends and it was still pretty fast, good for the family. Plus I think it would be more reliable. But I guess it just depends on what brand you like....Still honda is my choice :p

I had a 250ex, and all i gotta say is either buy the 250ex or go to a larger quad. 250ex is such a great quad, i had lots of fun and its bulletproof... you will be happy you bought it. Quick for a 250 and its great for trails, almost never got stuck because its so light. If you need any info on it or Q's, just pm me :)

I bought a 250EX for my Girlfriend to ride. I absolutly love it. It is so fun on the tight trails. It is very easy to manuever around and it jumps pretty well too. I like the looks of the Z250 but have not ridden one yet. The EX has been around for a couple years and no problems have surfaced that I am aware of. I put a hitch on mine and that thing will tow more than you think. I use it to move my 6.5X12 trailer around alot and it handles it with no trouble. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has a screen type oil filter instead of a paper one. You have to remove an engine side case to get to it:mad: . I don't understand why they did this. The Rancher and Foremans engines sit the same way and they don't have the screen type oil filter.

we havent decided if my 350 is unreliable yet, i havent put it together. i have heard lazurus at gt thunder builds some bullet proof motors tho. so we will find out soon.

all i am saying is unless there is something seriously wrong with the z, dirty wheels would have called it the better machine. i do like the 250ex over the zuke, so dont think i'm trying to put down the honda. just saying dw seems crooked, wich is a general opinion within this site

and if you think youve got a z or 250ex to run with my 300 bring it! there isnt a 250ex or z250 on the planet that can run with my 350.

I'm confused some say the Z is faster adn sum say the EX is faster i thought the Z was faster but the Ex rode smoother

My old 250 was the most reliable darn thing in the world. You can't stop one. By far get the ex. It is a great bike.

The 250ex is lighter than the z250, thus it is a little faster. The suspension on the honda is supposed to be better than the z250 according to Dirtwheels mag, which is no suprise coming from honda. I've owned a 250ex since the first model release in 2001 and have never had a problem, not even a flat tire. They are a blast to ride on the trails. I also bought mine for the wife.

250ex by far my friends had one for 2 years now and no problems with the motor yet and he races every weekend. how bout a blaster? with mods?

i got a mag that had the z250 vs the 250ex. they said that the 250ex pulled away from the z in every single drag.im still looking for a z250 a round where i ride to see if its true.
:devil: they picked the ex over the z tho, i guess it depends on if u like suzukis or hodas

i have a 250ex love it good handling easy shifting cause no clutch jus upshift down shift with ur foot easy reverse to only downside not a lot of aftermarket stuff for it whatever i love my 250ex
